You need him – Former Serie A goal-king urges AS Roma to snatch Ademola Lookman from Atalanta
Former Italy international and AS Roma legend Roberto Pruzzo has called on his former club to sign Nigeria international Ademola Lookman, Soccernet.ng reports.
Roma recently saw Romelu Lukaku leave after his loan spell ended and have been linked with Atletico Madrid’s Samu Omorodion and FC Metz’s Georges Mikautadze.
The team, led by Daniele De Rossi, is also close to signing Rennes midfielder Enzo Le Fee for around €20 million.
However, Pruzzo, who was Serie A top scorer three times while helping Roma win the Scudetto in 1983, thinks Lookman would be a better choice for Roma than Le Fee and is surprised by Le Fee’s market value.
“Roma would need a Lookman-style striker, who can take the ball and skip past his man. The expense of more than €20 million for Le Fée, who might not even start, intrigues me a little,” Pruzzo, 69, told Radio Mattino as per Roma News.
Lookman, though, may not be keen on joining AS Roma as I Giallorossi will not be participating in the UEFA Champions League next season.
They finished 6th in Serie A last term and will only be taking part in the UEFA Europa League, which they won last year.
Lookman’s reputation has grown after his hat-trick in the Europa League final against Bayer Leverkusen helped Atalanta win their first European title.
The 26-year-old forward has been linked with several top clubs, including Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool, Bayern Munich, Juventus, and Saudi’s Al Ittihad.
Atalanta reportedly value Lookman at €60 million.
Meanwhile, AS Roma are reportedly targeting another Super Eagles striker who they consider the perfect replacement for the departing Romelu Lukaku.
