If you can’t wait to see more of the My Hero Academia: You’re Next anime film, the official accounts have you covered with a short new preview. The latest is a special promotional video that shows off some more footage from the film while taking a moment to sample the Vaundy theme song, “Homunculus.”
We previously got a look at the cast members filling out the new original villains in the film.
My Hero Academia: You’re Next will screen simultaneously in Japan in IMAX, MX4D, 4DX and Dolby Cinema when it opens on August 2, 2024. TOHO animation will then bring the film to U.S. cinemas on October 11.
The movie is being made at BONES, with Tensai Okamura of Darker than Black helming the project as director. The script was penned by Yōsuke Kuroda. The theme song is titled “Homunculus” and performed by Vaundy. For those counting, this is the franchise’s fourth anime movie.
The movie contains an original story as opposed to being an adaptation from the manga. Mangaka Kohei Horikoshi is involved by being the general supervisor. My Hero Academia THE MOVIE: You’re Next’s storyline is set at approximately the same time as what’s going on in the TV anime right now.
VIZ Media publishes the original manga and gave this description for the first volume:
