THREE family members were shot dead at their home in Ivory Park extension 7, Ekurhuleni on Sunday night, 21 July.

The victims included two men aged 36 and 17, as well as a 28-year-old woman.

The incident happened after the assailant forcibly entered the room by kicking down the door where the family had gathered and proceeded to shoot them.

When neighbours heard the gunshots, they alerted the police.

Emergency services, upon arrival, discovered the victims with multiple gunshot wounds.

The 36-year-old man suffered severe injuries to his torso, while the other male and the female sustained upper body wounds.

The community is in disbelief over the violence that has shattered the peace of their neighbourhood.

Three family members were fatally shot at their home over an alleged financial dispute.

The 17-year-old was a pupil at a local Thembisa school, and the news of his death has yet to reach his fellow pupils and teachers.

The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, though there are rumours that the family owed someone money.

Witnesses reported seeing a person, believed to be connected to the debt, fleeing the scene in a vehicle with an unregistered number plate.

All the victims were certified dead by the paramedics, and no one has been arrested at this moment.

Police are investigating the matter and are on the lookout for the suspect.

Ekurhuleni district police spokeswoman Captain Neldah Sekgobela said: “We urge anyone with information regarding the incident or the suspects to come forward. A case of multiple murder has been opened.”

This is a developing story.
