Man United could be handed transfer boost
Manchester United face Premier League rivals Arsenal in their next pre-season game on Sunday.Â
The Red Devils bounced back from a 1-0 loss to Rosenborg with a 2-0 victory over Rangers on Saturday, and manager Erik ten Hag will be desperate to see his side build on that win when they face the Gunners.
Defender Leny Yoro made his first appearance for United during the win over Rangers, and the Frenchman could be involved once again against Arsenal.
Now, it appears that United may be handed a boost in their pursuit of a Bundesliga defender.
As per Football Insider, the door could open for United to sign Bayern Munich star Matthijs de Ligt if the German giants complete the signing of Jonathan Tah.
The Bundesliga side are willing to let De Ligt, 24, leave this summer but only if they can find a replacement.
De Ligt is a target for Manchester United
The Dutchman is a target for United manager Ten Hag, who worked with the centre-back during his time at former club Ajax.
Bayern, meanwhile, are keen to sign Tah from Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen, and if they are successful in doing so it could give United a significant boost in their pursuit of De Ligt.
Tah, 28, played a crucial role for Xabi Alonso’s side as they won both the German top flight title and the German Cup last term.
The Germany international has less than one year remaining on his current contract, though, and Bayern are therefore hopeful that Leverkusen could choose to cash in on him this summer.
De Ligt, meanwhile, joined Bayern from Italian side Juventus in 2022 and has since played 73 times for the German club across all competitions, scoring five goals.
The Dutchman failed to make a single appearance for his country at the European Championships this summer.
