Arsenal star ‘says yes’ to Ligue 1 move

Arsenal face Premier League rivals Liverpool in their next pre-season friendly on Thursday.

Mikel Arteta’s side beat Bournemouth in a penalty shoot-out after a 1-1 draw in their opening game of pre-season, before defeating Manchester united 2-1 last time out.

The Spaniard will be relatively pleased with his side’s performances so far this summer, with the North London side hoping to once again challenge for the Premier League title this term having finished as runners-up in each of the past two seasons.

Arsenal have bolstered their squad with the signing of defender Riccardo Calafiori from Bologna this month, while David Raya also joined permanently after spending last season on loan from Brentford.

Now, one of Arsenal’s attackers has reportedly agreed to a proposed move to France.

As per Fabrizio Romano, striker Eddie Nketiah has ‘said yes’ to the prospect of joining Ligue 1 side Marseille this summer.

Nketiah is a target for French side Marseille

The journalist claims that the French side are working to agree a deal for the Englishman, although a fee is yet to be agreed between the two clubs.

Nketiah, 25, is a graduate of Arsenal’s youth academy and has now played more than 160 times for the Gunners across all competitions, scoring 38 times.

Last term, the one-time England international featured in 27 of Arsenal’s 38 Premier League matches, but started only ten times.

He is contracted to his boyhood club until the end of the 2026/27 campaign, but the former Leeds United loanee could depart The Emirates before the end of the current transfer window.

Marseille are said to be targeting both Nketiah and Inter Milan midfielder Valentin Carboni, who spent last season on loan at fellow Italian side Monza.
