Olympics Fans Want a Hallmark Movie About the Alleged Exes Who Just Won Gold in Mixed Doubles Tennis

BookTok is about to have a field day with Katerina Siniakova and Tomas Machac, the (maybe) exes who just won gold at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.

On August 2, the Czech tennis stars narrowly defeated Team China’s Wang Xinyu and Zhang Zhizhen during the mixed doubles final in Paris, but their nail-biting third set is not the reason viewers are calling for a movie version of the event.

According to local reports, Siniakova—who previously won gold in women’s doubles at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics—confirmed her split from Machac just before they were set to compete together at the Paris Olympics. However, their alleged split didn’t keep the pair from sharing a kiss after their gold medal victory.

“YOU CAN’T TELL ME THEY’RE NOT BACK TOGETHER. YOU CANT,” sports journalist Rodger Sherman posted on X.com alongside their post-victory press conference, during which they refused to confirmed or deny reconciliation rumors.

“That’s our personal life, so you don’t need to know that,” Katerina Siniakova replied to a reporter who asked if they are “still together,” per the Associated Press. Tomas Machac agreed, referring to their relationship status as “top secret” information.

With a laugh, Siniakova added, “We like when you are confused.”

Together or not, many fans want them to be. “My new Olympics obsession is Kateřina Siniaková and Tomáš Macháč of Czechia, who were together for four years and recently broke up…but committed to playing mixed doubles and won the gold medal.” X.com user Amy O’Connor posted on August 2, receiving over 55,000 likes and 2,400 retweets.

And if they don’t end up together IRL, many fans would still like an exes-to-lovers romance novel or rom-com based on their Olympic journey. (I vote they call it Love-All or Nothing. Yes, I know that doesn’t technically make sense. No, I don’t care.)
