Powerball Jackpot to Hit $171 Million for Upcoming Drawing

Wednesday marked the latest drawing of the popular lottery game across America, Powerball. While many tried their luck, nobody was able to guess correctly all the winning numbers for the game’s grand prize.

This enabled the Powerball jackpot to continue growing and now it is getting closer to the mind-blowing $200 million. To be precise, the estimated grand prize from Powerball is $171 million.

As usual, a cash option is also available in case a winner prefers a lump cash sum. In that case, it would be $81.4 million. While that’s a far cry from the $171 million figure, it is a life-changing sum for anyone.

The next drawing for Powerball is scheduled for Saturday, August 3, 2024. With approximately a day and a half remaining until the upcoming drawing, undoubtedly, many people will once again try their luck for the game’s jackpot.

The last time a fortunate player was able to win the Powerball jackpot was early in June. At the time, a player from New Jersey hit the $223 million grand prize from the popular game.

Undoubtedly, the lucky player will always remember the winning numbers 3, 10, 33, 58, 59, and Powerball number 9, which brought him the mind-boggling jackpot.  With that in mind, the odds of winning the Powerball jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million.

Lucky Players Win a Range of Lower-Tier Prizes
To win the jackpot on Wednesday, players had to guess correctly the winning numbers 23, 34, 37, 50, 58, as well as Powerball number 7. While the jackpot survived Wednesday’s Powerball drawing, there weren’t a lot of players who won million-dollar prizes as well.

Only one lucky player from California matched five of the winning numbers. Their guess enabled them to secure a $1 million prize. Still, nobody was able to match five winning numbers together with the Power Play option which would’ve awarded $2 million.

On the bright side, seven lucky Powerball players won $50,000 each by guessing four white balls together with the red Powerball number. Four others paid extra for the popular Power Play option and took home $100,000 each.

More than 600 players won a $100 prize each from the latest Powerball drawing while close to 200 took home $200 each. Nearly 284,000 players won a $4 prize each, which is the lowest-tier prize, while another 107,981 won an $8 Power Play prize each.
