Mike Tyson claims he will be on ‘residue of mushrooms’ for Jake Paul fight and has been using them during fight camp
With Mike Tyson’s controversial return to the boxing ring against Jake Paul scheduled to take place in November, the 58-year-old has revealed that he has been using mushrooms during his training sessions.
The two were scheduled to fight back in July, but the fight was delayed after Mike Tyson suffered an ulcer flare-up on a flight which resulted in him being unable to train for a while.
Instead of not fighting at all, Jake Paul handpicked former UFC welterweight fighter turned BKFC star, Mike Perry to replace Tyson, putting the possible superfight in jeopardy. Fortunately for ‘The Problem Child’, he secured a finish over Perry, preserving his fight against Tyson.

“I have to take (mushrooms) when I train, I always train with my mushrooms. I train on mushrooms because I feel beautiful, it takes me to heaven, baby,” Tyson told Jake Paul’s brother, Logan Paul during an episode of the Impaulsive Podcast.
The fight is set to take place from the AT&T stadium in Arlington, Texas, and will air exclusively on Netflix as the third sporting event to stream live on the platform.
With Tyson admittedly heavily reliant on the usage of mushrooms, the former WBC heavyweight champion has claimed that if he isn’t able to be on mushrooms for his fight against ‘The Problem Child’, he will be on ‘residue of mushrooms’.
“If I’m not on mushrooms (for the fight), I’ll be on residue of mushrooms, I won’t be on mushrooms but on residue of mushrooms,” Tyson claimed.
Tyson has always been an open advocate for Marijuana and has decreased his intake of the drug during his training camp. Marijuana is on the list of banned substances used by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation which regulates combat sports in Texas. It is unknown whether mushrooms also fall into that category, however, it is of course assumed that they do.
‘Iron’ Mike isn’t the only combat sports star who has benefitted from the intake of mushrooms as a fighter debuting in the UFC this coming Saturday also recently shared his experience with them.
RESPONSE: Francis Ngannou hits back at UFC CEO Dana White following recent Jon Jones commentsMike Tyson explains how he’ll channel old Tyson ahead of the fightSince his retirement from the sport, Tyson has become far more zen and less erratic. Despite that, he isn’t worried about having to channel the old Mike Tyson ahead of his return clash and has explained how he will do so.
“I will keep it real, the only thing I have to think of (to channel my old self) is being young and people bullying me (that’s how I get there),” Tyson revealed.
The 58-year-old initially got into boxing as a young boy because of the fact he was getting bullied and wanted to be able to defend himself. He and Paul took part in a press conference recently, and ‘The Problem Child’ made his first attempts at trying to get to Tyson.
“No (I don’t think Jake bullied me at the press conference), the closer it gets to the fight I’ll start to feel bullied, I get that feeling,” Tyson added.
