After taking a brief break from music, Halle Bailey returned stronger than ever with âBecause I Love You.â On Friday (Aug. 30), she shared the new single and its accompanying visuals, which boasted RJ Cyler â who most will know from âRap Sh!tâ and The Book of Clarence â as her love interest.
The Dem Jointz-produced love anthem took Halle in a slightly different direction from what fans are used to, with the songstress pouring out her feelings to someone who just canât seem to match them. âI got drunk the other day; it was a birthday party/ Two drinks down, and I’m tryna get naughty/ Four drinks down, now I’m grabbinâ on you, gnarly/ There I go again, yeah, yeah,â she sang. âRoof off the Maybach, climbin’ on the dash, and yes, I did that, ’cause I wanted a reaction/ You ain’t used to girls that can make it high fashion/ F**kin’ with a ten, Amen.â

ââBecause I Love Youâ is a song for anyone who has ever been deeply in love. Itâs an anthem that tells the story of all of the beautiful passion and euphoria you can feel with that person,â Halle said via a press release, per The Line of Best Fit. Regarding the visual effort, she noted, âThe video dives deeper into how vulnerable it makes you feel. I hope people enjoy listening and thinking of the person they love the most.â
The track notably marked Halleâs second solo offering of 2024. In March, the musician unveiled the guitar-laden âIn Your Hands,â which she wrote while pregnant with her son, Halo. In the interim, longtime Chloe x Halle supporters got to hear her reunite with ChloÌe Bailey on âWant Me.â
Earlier in the week, Halle made headlines after Brandy revealed sheâs the top pick to portray her in a biopic. While the âAngelâ singer hasnât been on the big screens since 2023âs The Little Mermaid and The Color Purple, she was recently confirmed as a cast member in Pharrell Williamâs Atlantis. The musical film is expected to get a theater-wide release on May 9, 2025.
