Hereâs What Allegedly Happened To The Woman At New You Laser NYC
According to TMZ, Romero is alleging that a trip she made to New York for a âlaser hair removalâ in February 2023 left her with burns on her underarm and vagina.
Per the lawsuit, Romero explained that during the procedure, she allegedly âfelt a burning sensation she had never felt before.â In reaction, the woman allegedly complained to her technician. However, they reportedly did not listen to the woman.
Instead, the technician allegedly reassured her that the machine she was using âwas set to the usual temperature.â Additionally, the tech allegedly asked Romero if the pain she was feeling couldâve been related to her menstrual cycle.
According to the outlet, Romero is alleging that the tech did not double-check or change the temperature on the machine. Additionally, Romero allegedly voiced noticing that the laser seemed âbrighter and more yellow than usual.â However, the technician allegedly continued to ignore her concern.
To make matters worse, Romero allegedly complained about her armpits being âhurt from the laser.â Instead of stopping the procedure there, the technician allegedly began the treatment on Romeroâs vagina.
The woman reportedly felt a âscorching sensationâ at that point. Ultimately, Romero ended up halting the procedure.

According to TMZ, the tech allegedly gave Romero âhydrocortisone cream to help ease the pain.â However, her apparent discomfort only intensified.
After the procedure, Romero allegedly noticed âredness in her pubic area, plus dark grayish circles forming on her vagina and under her arms.â
According to the outlet, Romero said her skin âlooked like it was going to fall off.â However, she allegedly had to wait 15 minutes before the tech brought her ointment and ice packs, which did not help alleviate her pain.
Ultimately, the woman took an Uber to a hospital and was diagnosed with âfirst-degree burns to her underarms and vagina.â According to TMZ, Romero has been informed that her âpubic area will never fully recoverâ from the ordeal.
Furthermore, the âgrotesqueâ scars on her armpits have reportedly left her unable to continue her career as a dancer.
Per TMZ, the woman is suing New You Laser for $1.5 million. The outlet adds that they have reached out to the company. However, they allegedly âhad no comment.â

New You Laser isnât the only facility to make headlines in the last year. As The Shade Room previously reported, in July 2023, the Department of Health advised visitors of the VIP Beauty Salon and Spa in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to get tested for HIV, Hepatitis B, and Hepatitis C.
More specifically, the DOH noted that those who received a vampire facial or botox injections should seek testing.
