This after an assault case was opened against him.

A 29-year-old man who claimed to be his “boyfriend” alleged that the presenter assaulted and stabbed him on his face.

The incident happened in Durban on Saturday, 31 August when the two were allegedly on their way back from an entertainment place in Morningside.

The man, who asked not to be named, told Daily Sun he and Siya were in a relationship from 2020 to 2021, but broke up. They decided to try again this year.

On Saturday, Siya allegedly became jealous after they had fun with some of their friends. The man said one of the friends blew kisses at him when they were saying goodbye.

“I didn’t realise that Siya was angry about it. We went to his car where a heated argument started. He was angry, accusing me of cheating on him with one of our friends. He said a friend would not say goodbye by blowing kisses,” said the man.

He said things got ugly when Siya forced him to call that friend to confirm that they were not dating.

“I refused and he started to attack me with an alcohol bottle on my face. He punched me until a car which was passing by stopped and the people in that vehicle intervened.

“I stepped out of the car and took a video as evidence when he asked to take me to hospital. I refused because I felt unsafe,” he said.

KZN police spokesman Colonel Robert Netshiunda confirmed that a case of assault was opened.

“Police in Durban Central are investigating a case of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. The victim sustained injuries on the face and was taken to hospital for medical attention,” he said.

Daily Sun tried to contact Siya for comment, but his phone was off and he did not respond to messages.

Siya was also unscheduled on his show, Ubusuku Obuhle on Monday, 2 September, Tuesday, 3 September and Zama Mseleku stood in for him.

SABC media relations manager, Mmoni Seapolelo told Daily Sun Ukhozi FM management would like to confirm that Siya has asked to take some time off from work to deal with a personal matter.

“During this period, Zama Mseleku will stand in for him. It must be noted that management is also aware of the alleged video and at this stage would like to be given an opportunity to address the matter internally in line with SABC processes.

“In addition, if the matter is reported to law enforcement authorities, management will also respect this process,” she said.
