Arsenal could open contract talks with in-demand star

Premier League managers will be keeping a close eye on this week’s international fixtures to ensure their players return without injury.

Title hopefuls Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool all have a number of players representing their respective countries during this international break, and Pep Guardiola, Mikel Arteta and Arne Slot will all hope to see their players survive unscathed.

One player that wasn’t called up to represent his country on this occasion was Arsenal’s Leandro Trossard, who missed out on a place in the Belgium squad for their games against Israel and France.

The winger scored an important goal for the Gunners against Aston Villa last week, but hasn’t been included in Domenico Todesco’s squad for their Nations League fixtures.

Now, though, it appears that Arsenal are considering opening new contract talks with the player.

Trossard has been the subject of interest from elsewhere in recent weeks, and Football Insider claims that the Gunners could now begin talks with the player about a new deal.

Trossard could be in line for a new contract with Arsenal after a bid from Al-Ittihad

Saudi Arabian side Al-Ittihad lodged a deadline day bid for the Belgian last week, although the offer was rejected by Arsenal as they perceive Trossard to be an important player.

The 29-year-old joined the North London side from Brighton and Hove Albion in January last year and has since played more than 70 times for the club across all competitions.

He has scored 19 times for the Gunners, as well as registering 12 assists.

His current contract with Arsenal is set to run until the end of next season, but those in charge of the club could look to tie him down to a longer deal amid interest from the big spending Pro League.
