Saquon Barkley amassed 132 total yards and three touchdowns to lead the Philadelphia Eagles to a 34-29 win over the Green Bay Packers in São Paulo, Brazil, on Friday evening.
The former New York Giant signed a three-year, $37.75 million deal with the Eagles last March after six seasons with Big Blue. He was fantastic Friday, rushing for 109 yards and two scores on 24 carries while adding two catches for 23 yards and another touchdown.
Barkley got the Eagles on the board after catching a Jalen Hurts pass out of the backfield for 18 yards, tying the game at six.

In the second quarter, Barkley got his first Eagles rushing touchdown, an 11-yarder to give Philadelphia the 13-12 edge.

The scoring continued in a back-and-forth game as Barkley found paydirt for what ended up being the game-winning score, a two-yard touchdown for a 30-26 lead in the third quarter.

Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James, among others, gave Barkley a shoutout for his efforts.

It’s only one game, but it’s naturally tough for Giants fans to see the ex-face of the franchise dominate in his first appearance with the team’s arch rival.
Big Blue ultimately let Barkley walk as the team, which went 6-11 last year, looked to address other areas of the franchise this offseason, namely pass-rusher (Brian Burns) and offensive line (e.g. Jon Runyan Jr., Jermaine Eluemunor). The Giants brought in ex-Buffalo Bill and Houston Texan Devin Singletary to be their new RB1.
We’ll see how things turn out for New York soon enough when it starts the season against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET. For now, though, seeing Barkley in an Eagles uniform as he crushes the Packers can be a tough pill to swallow for some.
