Jordan Love, Packers Defense Disappoint NFL Fans in Loss vs. Jalen Hurts, Eagles

The Green Bay Packers will leave Brazil with nothing to show for after losing to the Philadelphia Eagles 34-29 in their season opener on Friday.

For much of the game, the Packers looked like the team that snuck into the playoffs and beat the Dallas Cowboys in the wild-card round. They capitalized off a pair of early turnovers to make it a 6-0 game in the first quarter, but their stout defense quickly faded as Jalen Hurts, Saquon Barkley and the Eagles offense had their way with Green Bay’s defense.

It was a less-than-desirable game for Jordan Love after the Packers made him tied for the highest-paid quarterback over the offseason. The fourth-year player had 260 passing yards, a touchdown and an interception on 17-of-34 passing. He had some questionable decision-making that had fans wondering if he was worth the high price this offseason.

Green Bay fans were also disappointed with the Packers’ defense.

Chicago Football Connection @CFCBears1. Dropped pick 6
2. Thrown into double coverage PBU
3. 70 yard TD to wide open WR on a busted coverage

That’s why you make Jordan Love the highest paid QB in football

Jl @MIK3MCDANIELJordan Love had 8 games of good football and got paid 55 Ms per year and nobody batted an eye

Turtle @Sageof6turtlesJordan Love almost throws a pick 6, then threw a bad pass into double coverage, then throws a 70 yard touchdown. This is such a fascinating player

Scott Reichel @ReichelRadioThe Packers defense being unable to get off the field in crunch time. Same exact story for the last 10+ years

Matt Dixon @Mdixon55The packers will never ever ever have a good defense

I’m convinced it’s the burden we will always carry https://t.co/83DXWKwxre

cat @koovousPackers defense blew it

Adding to the Packers’ woes in their season-opener, Love went down awkwardly after being tackled on the final drive of the game and was helped off the field in obvious pain. He didn’t return for the last play of the game as Malik Willis entered under center but was sacked before he could get a Hail Mary attempt off.

The severity of Love’s injury is unclear at this point, but Packers fans can only hope he’ll be back on the field in Week 2.
