Christian Pulisic scores, assists in AC Milan return
Christian Pulisic might not have enjoyed a victory over the international break but did enjoy one Saturday in his return to club action with AC Milan.
Pulisic scored AC Milan’s third goal in an eventual 4-0 home triumph over Venezia in Serie A play. The U.S. men’s national team attacker also registered one assist in the result, which was the first for the Rossoneri under new manager Paulo Fonseca.
Theo Hernandez’s second minute opener propelled the hosts in front 1-0 before Pulisic set up Youssouf Fofana for a 2-0 lead not long after. The 25-year-old’s in-swinging corner kick was met by Fofana’s head to double AC Milan’s lead early against the visitors.
Tammy Abraham was hacked down in the 22nd minute, providing Pulisic with the opportunity to score from the penalty spot for a 3-0 AC Milan advantage. It marked Pulisic’s second goal in four league appearances this summer.
Abraham made it 4-0 four minutes later, this time slotting home from the penalty spot after Rafael Leao was hauled down inside of the box.
Pulisic was influential in the victory, logging 79 minutes, creating three offensive chances, and winning five of his six individual duels on the night.
AC Milan next opens up UEFA Champions League play against English Premier League title chasers Liverpool on Tuesday.
