CBS Sports rank Celtics coach under ten different coaches
Boston Celtics coach Joe Mazzula was ranked 11th inĀ CBS Sportsā top 30 coaches in the NBA. This is after he led the Celtics to their 18th banner in his second season as the head coach.Ā
Here are the 10 coaches CBS has over Mazzula:Ā
Erik Spoelstra, Miami HeatNick Nurse, Philadelphia 76ersRick Carlisle, Indiana PacersĀ Steve Kerr, Golden State WarriorsĀ Ty Lue, LA ClippersĀ Mark Daigneault, OKC ThunderĀ Will Hardy, Utah JazzIme Udoka, Houston RocketsĀ Mike Budenholzer, Phoenix SunsĀ Tom Thibodeau, New York KnicksĀ Some of these are understandable, such as Kerr and Spoelstra, who have multiple championships as coaches. Carlisle, Daigneault and Udoka are also understandable, as they turned their franchises from average or below average into playoff contenders. However, the others, not so much.Ā
None of the other coaches have either won a championship, or won one with their current team. In two seasons, Mazzula has coached his team to a record of 121-43, and got them a championship. The team is also looking to go back to back, making Mazulla get two rings in his first three years. Mazulla is also the youngest head coach to win a ring, if you donāt count Bill Russell, who won as a player-coach.Ā
For Mazzula, his aim should be the COTY, so he can prove the critics wrong and make it known he is the best coach in the NBA.
