The Best Halloween LEGO Sets to Build This October

Halloween is the best holiday because it’s the perfect excuse to watch horror movies, binge on candy, and scare children. Lots of people like to deck out their abode with decorations like Jack-o’-lanterns and fake spiderwebs, but here’s a better idea: why not take the opportunity to piece together some spooky LEGO sets? They’re fun to build, and they act as Halloween decorations you can set on a shelf or table to add to the autumnal holiday spirit. If building Halloween-themed LEGO sets sounds like your kind of fun, you’ve come to the right place. Here are 10 spooky sets that ship in time for Halloween.

LEGO The Nightmare Before Christmas

Is it a Christmas movie or a Halloween movie? Why not both? The Nightmare Before Christmas LEGO set is currently backordered, but you can buy the Tim Burton-inspired set now and it’ll ship when it’s back in stock. Hopefully that happens before Halloween rolls around, but if it ships before Christmas you can still build it to celebrate that holiday instead. That’s what I’d call a win-win.

LEGO Fortnite Peely Bone

Of the four Fortnite LEGO sets arriving October 1, Peely Bone is far and away the most Halloween-y. It’s the Peely we all know and love, but half his flesh has been, uh, peeled away, revealing a skeleton and visible intestines. It’s gross in a horrific way, perfect for celebrating the spooky season.

LEGO Wednesday Addams Figure

Wednesday was a massive hit for Netflix, and while we wait for Season 2, the spooky character’s new line of LEGO sets goes live on October 1. That’s good timing. There’s this Wednesday figure set based on Jenna Ortega’s portrayal of the Addams family icon, or, if you want to spend a bit more cash, you can pick up Wednesday and Enid’s Dorm Room (see it at LEGO Store), which to my eye resembles Darth Vader’s castle. Which is to say it’s awesome.

LEGO Hocus Pocus: The Sanderson Sisters’ Cottage

Hocus Pocus is a’ 90s Halloween favorite that’s not too scary for kids to watch. The classic film has now been immortalized in LEGO form, complete with tons of movie-accurate details, as well as spooky vines growing up the sides, and a water wheel you can turn to make pink “smoke” issue from the chimney.

LEGO Halloween Barn

A new LEGO set for Halloween 2024 is this Halloween Barn. This more affordable LEGO set for kids comes with a cartoonishly foreboding barn, a spooky door, an old tree, and a bat perched on top. The icing on this Halloween cake is that also comes with a skeleton Minifigure.

LEGO Batcave Shadow Box

They may not be set during Halloween, but the Tim Burton Batman movies fit the holiday just fine. This unique set is a shadow box with the bat symbol on it that folds out to reveal the Batcave from the movie Batman Returns. And this Batcave is decked out with a sorts of wonderful Bat tools, like the Batmobile, Batcomputer, Batsuit and other Bat accessories. LEGO Wicked Elphaba & Glinda Figures

What’s more fitting for the season than a witch? This set, based on the upcoming film Wicked (which is based on a musical that was based on a novel, which was based on a movie… phew), lets you build doll figures for Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West, and Glinda the Good Witch. Let’s say it together: “I’ll get you, my pretty!”

LEGO The Lord of the Rings: Barad-dûr

Before Peter Jackson directed the Lord of the Rings trilogy on which this creepy LEGO Barad-dûr set is based, he helmed Dead Alive, one of the goriest horror movies of all time. His penchant for fear is clear and present in the designs and camera work in all the scenes involving the forces of evil in the series. Barad-dûr, Sauron’s castle, is one of the spookiest and most imposing settings in the entire trilogy, making it look right at home with other Halloween decor. LEGO Harry Potter: Hogwarts Castle and Grounds

Another film series that’s perfect to bust out during the fall is Harry Potter. And there are plenty of Harry Potter LEGO sets to choose from. Hogwarts Castle and Grounds is a relatively affordable take on the iconic school of Witchcraft and Wizardry. It’s also filled with Gothic spires and other architectural designs that make it a great Halloween build.

LEGO Marvel: Venomized Groot

One final spooky set from the many excellent offerings in the lineup of Marvel LEGO sets is Venomized Groot. This set imagines the horrific idea of baby Groot being latched onto by the Venom Symbiote.
