Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has doubled down on his belief that summer signing Joshua Zirkzee can become a prolific goalscorer for the club.
The Netherlands international striker scored the match-winning goal on his debut against Fulham last month and, while heās not found the net in red since, our new no.11 has remained a threat in attacking areas and been able to show his abilities as an all-round centre-forward.Ā
Zirkzeeās capacity to bring team-mates into play has been a notable trait of his early displays for Ten Hagās side, and while the boss has acknowledged that as a benefit, he believes that more goals are coming for our new man if he keeps working hard.

Part one: Press conference v SpursPRESS CONFERENCE | Erik is asked about Sunday’s match against Spurs, Joshua Zirkzee, Bruno Fernandes and more…
āYes I do [think he can become a prolific goalscorer for United],ā said Ten Hag, during the first part of his pre-Tottenham press conference.Ā
āSure, he is young. We see his great abilities. He is a very good link-up player, as you say, he is creative.Ā
āHe is creating chances but be fair, also he has his moments towards the goal from the opposition. I think it was a great action he had [against FC Twente] and a great finish he had, top save from the keeper but in that area he can definitely improve.Ā
āWe know he has some very good attributes, and he has to improve, and he needs our support on how to improve.ā
Speaking to reporters on Thursday afternoon, the boss reiterated that scoring more goals is something his team must do in general.
The Reds were dominant in our last domestic outing, away to Crystal Palace, but ultimately didnāt take the deserved three points after failing to find the net in the 0-0 draw.
āThat is the key area. We have to score goals as a team. I think across the team, we have the ability to score,” Erik explained.
āThat is clear, when you see all the opportunities we are creating, we are not scoring enough.
āI think we bring the ball into the final third and the box a lot but now we have to take more advantage and more benefit from it.ā
