Manchester United’s Premier League campaign resumes this Sunday with an enticing clash at home to Tottenham Hotspur.
The 16:30 BST kick-off at Old Trafford sees the Reds return to top-flight matters, following Wednesday’s 1-1 draw with FC Twente in the UEFA Europa League.
Before continuing our European season away to FC Porto next Thursday (3 October), there is a huge three points up for grabs domestically in this weekend’s clash, which we’ve got all your essential pre-match info for down below.

WHAT’S THE TEAM NEWS?
Erik ten Hag may provide the latest update on his squad when he conducts his pre-match press conference later today (Thursday), which we’ll bring you the first part of from 17:30 BST.
Recent returnee Mason Mount got his first minutes since August’s trip to Brighton during Wednesday’s draw with FC Twente, having been welcomed back from an injury he picked up on the south coast.
Victor Lindelof, Tyrell Malacia, Luke Shaw and Leny Yoro all remained sidelined for the midweek outing, although Ten Hag was hopeful earlier this week that Shaw would be involved before the upcoming October international break.
As for Tottenham, the availability picture will likely become clearer after their own Europa League opener against Azerbaijani champions Qarabag tonight, for which they will be without forwards Wilson Odobert and Richarlison due to injury.
Key defender Cristian Romero is suspended for the European tie, while full-backs Sergio Reguilon and Djed Spence are ineligible, but all three could be involved at Old Trafford on Sunday.
OPPOSITION ANALYSIS
Spurs are now into their second season under the stewardship of head coach Ange Postecoglou, who became the first Australian to manage in the Premier League when he was appointed in the summer of 2023.
The 59-year-old’s attacking philosophy – often featuring a high defensive line, full-backs moving into central areas while his team is in possession and an aggressive press from the front – was in evidence during both of our meetings with the Londoners last season and throughout much of his first campaign at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The Lilywhites finished fifth in the Premier League in 2023/24, just two points behind Aston Villa who took the final of four Champions League places allocated to English teams via the top-flight rankings.
This season, they’ve already enjoyed home wins over Everton and Brentford, but narrowly came out on the wrong end of tight encounters with Newcastle and Arsenal, after being held to a draw at Leicester on the opening weekend.
Captain Heung-min Son, who has played both wide left and up front already this term, leads the team for league goals (two) so far in ’24/25 and is always a threat to be wary of in the Spurs ranks.

DID YOU KNOW?
Sunday’s game will be our 100th Old Trafford clash with Tottenham, since the first all the way back in March 1911.
The north London outfit have been our most frequent visitors to M16 in the great stadium’s 114-year history, ahead of Arsenal (96), Everton (94) and Liverpool (93).
Last season’s encounter at the Theatre of Dreams resulted in a 2-2 draw, with Richarlison and Rodrigo Bentancur both levelling the scores after goals from Rasmus Hojlund and Marcus Rashford.
