Kim Burrell doesnât seem to like sharing her spotlight! The singer recently clocked a church crowd who tried to sing along to her performance, and social media is cuttinâ up over the clip. This moment comes less than a year after she went viral for a similar incident.

A video shared by The Shade Room shows Kim on stage with a mic in one hand and a cell phone in the other. In the clipâs first few seconds, she repeatedly looks at her phone, seemingly at the song lyrics. Then, as other voices in the crowd chimed in, Kim interrupted herself.
âYâall want me to get beat up and tell yâall let that mask work for you,â Burrell joked. âPlease let me sing my song tonight, I have a purposeâŠ.give me one round by myself. Can I have that?â
She followed that up with another jokey joke before returning to her performance. It appears the audience interaction happened at the first âBrothers Standing On Businessâ gospel concert on Sept. 21 in Brooklyn, NYC. Burrell announced her plans to headline the event in May. Kim Went Viral For A Similar Moment In January
As mentioned, Burrell caught heat earlier this year after she addressed a congregant who wanted to sing with her. At the time, she was singing the hymn âThank You, Lordâ at a church service and interrupted herself to silence the backup vocals. Let that mask work for you. Iâm singing alone,â Burrell said. Thatâs where her âmaskâ joke at her recent performance came from. She later addressed the backlash by suggesting that she sometimes operates as a singer and prophet.
âSometimes when I operate publicly, everybody doesnât understand the dispensation of what Iâm operating in, they just see me as Kim the singer thatâs not being âthe singer,â who is not always the singer. Iâm the preacher, Iâm the person with the gift of prophetic,â she stated.
