Tyreek Hill Makes Cryptic Post About ‘Exciting’ Trade News amid Davante Adams Rumors

In a week of cryptic social media posts about potential or rumored trades, Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill got in on the action.

Hill posted on X that he woke up to “exciting” trade news on Wednesday.

This comes after NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo reported on Tuesday that Davante Adams informed the Las Vegas Raiders he would prefer to be traded.

Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce previously liked a post on Instagram from Sports Illustrated’s Michael Fabiano that said it wouldn’t be a surprise if Adams has already played his last snap for the team.

Miami just restructured Hill’s contract in August to pay him $90 million over the next three years. The team could be in the midst of a lost season with Tua Tagovailoa currently on injured reserve, so perhaps they might think about making moves with an eye toward the long-term future.

Per Over the Cap, Miami could save $65 million against the cap between 2025 to ’27 if Hill is traded. There has been nothing to suggest the Dolphins are looking to deal their star receiver, let alone that such a move is imminent.

The timing of Hill’s post on X is strange because the Adams news broke in the afternoon on Tuesday, if that’s what it is about.

Even if you consider that athletes aren’t paying attention to these types of stories in the same way that fans and journalists do, it is odd it took him approximately 20 hours to be made aware that Adams wants out of Vegas.

The Dolphins were off on Tuesday after a 31-12 loss to the Tennessee Titans on Monday night. Hill might make a point of avoiding all NFL news when he has a day off, in the same way that a person who works a regular 9-5 job doesn’t want to think about work when they don’t have to.

Perhaps the most surprising part of Hill’s post is that he’s waking up at 12:39 p.m. local time. Professional athletes keep ridiculous schedules. The Rock, who is still a part-time athlete when he decides to wrestle in WWE, wakes up at 3:30 every morning.

Granted, this assumes the first thing Hill did when he woke up was look at social media, see the Adams report and decide he had to make a cryptic post. He may have been up earlier for a regular workout, spent time with his wife and child, then started posting before the Dolphins began their first practice of the week.
