Todd Chrisley Reacts To His Wifeâs Resentencing
According to a report published by the New York Post on Wednesday, October 2, an attorney for the couple shared Toddâs sentiments in an exclusive statement. Jay Surgent reportedly explained that Todd is âextremely disappointedâ and âdissatisfiedâ with the judgeâs September 25 ruling on Julieâs case.
Additionally, Todd is âconcerned about Julieâs health and welfareâ as she remains behind bars. The outlet reports that Julie allegedly experienced a âserious health problemâ during her time in prison.
To note, in 2023, Julie was allegedly informed by a prison doctor that a âsign of a tumorâ had been detected in her body, per PEOPLE. Furthermore, the outlet adds that Julie was previously diagnosed with breast cancer and reportedly underwent a double mastectomy in 2012.
Despite Julieâs medical history, Todd and his attorney did not disclose the cause of their current fears surrounding her âhealth and welfare.â
More Details On Julie Chrisleyâs Resentencing
As The Shade Room previously reported, Julie was resentenced to her initial 7-year prison term last month. The reality starâs lawyers reportedly hoped for her to receive a resentence of âno more than five years.â
Additionally, during the hearing, Julie issued an apology for the actions that allegedly landed her behind bars.
âI would like to say Iâve had years to think about what Iâve wanted to say and Iâm sorry for my actions and situations that let us to where we are today. Iâve had 20 months in prison, but it has been much more leading up to the trial and I apologize for my actions that led to where we are today,â Julie told the court, per PEOPLE. âI have done everything I can do to get closer to my family. Iâve taken tests for new skills, such as driving a forklift and serving food in proper ways⊠this has been the most difficult part of my life. I canât ever repay my children for what theyâve had to go through and for that, I am so sorry.â
After the hearing, Julieâs legal team revealed they plan to appeal the judgeâs resentencing. Additionally, Julie and Toddâs daughter, Savannah, shared a strong reaction to the judgeâs ruling.
âWhat has happened is an injustice,â Savannah told reporters in a subsequent press conference, per Entertainment Tonight. ââŠIâm very disappointed⊠so weâre going to move forward with appealing this sentence, and that will happen in the next fourteen days.â
Hereâs Why The âChrisley Knows Bestâ Star Was Resentenced
As The Shade Room previously reported, Julie was initially sentenced to 7 years in prison after she and her husband were convicted of tax evasion and bank fraud in June 2022. Meanwhile, Todd received a 12-year prison sentence.
In January 2023, the couple surrendered to separate prison camps, per The Shade Room. However, in June 2024, a âthree-judge panelâ overturned Julieâs sentence. The panel reportedly asserted that her sentence had been âmiscalculated.â Additionally, the panel reportedly concluded that there was âinsufficient evidenceâ to hold Julie accountable for the âentiretyâ of the tax evasion and bank fraud scheme.
