Nobody Wants This Creator Erin Foster Addresses Possible Season 2
Erin Foster Reveals Where She Stands With Step-Siblings Gigi Hadid and Brody Jenner
Everybody does, in fact, want this.
And by this we mean a second season of Netflixâs new hit rom-com series Nobody Wants This, created by Erin Foster and starring Kristen Bell and Adam Brody as budding couple Joanne and Noah who must navigate Noahâs calling as a rabbi against Joanneâs gentile identity. (And yes, this article contains spoilers.)
But after the season one finale saw Noah seemingly forgo his spiritual calling to pursue a relationship with Joanneâwith still enough uncertainty to leave viewers guessingâfans are clamoring for more. And Erin is hoping to deliver.
âWeâre getting a really positive response,â she told IndieWire ahead of the showâs Sept. 26 premiere. âAnd so I think the conversations have definitely started to happen about a potential season two.â
The 42-year-old also hinted at what a second installment might include.
âThe story in season one unfolds really slowly,â Erin explained. âSo I think if there is a season two I would want to just kind of pick up where we leave off and continue to take it slow, because I donât want us to get too far ahead of ourselves.â
As she quipped, âI want my show to be on the air as long as possible!â
Erinâwho based the show loosely on her IRL relationship with husband Simon Tikhman, for whom she converted to Judaismâalso provided insight into the decision-making process for certain elements of the show.

Including why she addressed the question of Joanne converting to Judaism, despite the networkâs initial feelings that it would bring the showâs story to a standstill.
âI hate when thereâs a TV show that youâre watching as a viewer, and youâre [thinking], âJust ask the question!’â she explained. âLike, âThis is all very solvable; just ask her to convertâ and then every story goes away. I hate that. And so if people watching it think, âThis is a really easy solve, just convert to Judaism,â I wanted to address that, because itâs not the easy solve. You donât just say, âOh, well, Iâll just convert!ââ
As she explained, becoming a rabbiâs girlfriend or wife comes with significant life implications.

âYou have to also remember that Joanne is someone whoâs not going to fake it, so if she doesnât believe it, sheâs not going to live it,â she noted. âI know that when I signed up to convert, I said to my fiancĂ© at the time, âIf I havenât bought into this thing by the end, then I am not gonna do it, because it has to feel right.â And thatâs who Joanne is.â
The O.C. alumâwho is the daughter of music producer David Fosterâalso explained her decision to give Noah and Joanne an ending that is happily promising.
âI fully understand some people who make the artistic choice to not give the audience what they want, but I donât think this is that kind of show,â she shared. âI think this is the kind of show where you want to get the thing youâre there to get and I wanted to give people that moment of, âWe choose each other, but everyone knows weâre giving up a lot to choose each other, so how are we gonna do it?ââ
As she put it, âThat, to me, felt like a realistic but still satisfying ending still with conflict, so you have somewhere to go.â
