In addition to unveiling their 2024-25 City Edition jerseys on Tuesday, the Los Angeles Lakers revealed another new wrinkle coming this season.

The Lakers announced that their “California Destiny” alternate court design will debut on Nov. 21 when they host the Orlando Magic:

The color scheme of the “California Destiny” court coincides with the City Edition uniforms:

“This is definitely a representation of the Lakers and the city, that’s for sure,” star forward LeBron James said while debuting the uniforms in a YouTube video.

The Lakers are coming off a 47-35 finish to the 2023-24 season that culminated with a loss to the Denver Nuggets in the first round of the playoffs. The team retained most of its core from last year while adding some youth to the roster.

James and star big man Anthony Davis helped lead Team USA to a gold medal at the Paris Olympics this summer. James, who will turn 40 years old this season, still appears to be in top form as he enters an NBA season unlike any other in his legendary career.

The four-time NBA MVP will be playing alongside his son Bronny James, who was selected with a second-round pick in the 2024 draft. The 20-year-old is unlikely to be counted on to contribute this season, but he represents the next generation of Lakers stars along with first-round pick Dalton Knecht.

The Lakers will open the 2024-25 campaign at home against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Oct. 22 at 10 p.m. ET on TNT.
