Pennsylvania High School Football Player is Fighting For His Life after Collapsing On Field

A Pennsylvania High School football player named Carter Mason is fighting for his life after collapsing on the field this past Friday.

According to reports, The Rochester High School football star running back made a play against Shenango High School suffering a helmet-to-helmet hit. After standing up and trying to walk to the sidelines he collapsed.

Mason is currently breathing on his own, and has briefly opened his eyes, but he is still awaiting several tests.

A 5-foot-8, 170-pound running back and defensive back, Carter Mason has played football since he was 5. He scored a couple of touchdowns last season and returned a punt 66 yards for one this year, but injuries have limited his playing days. He has suffered concussions in the past.

A GoFundMe page was created for his family, which has raised 22k dollars.

Last evening I received an update from Carter’s mother. Carter is still mostly asleep. With assistance yesterday he was able to sit at the edge of the bed and give the nurse a high-five. They tried multiple times to insert a feeding tube, but Carter will not tolerate it. They are supposed to transfer him to the inpatient rehabilitation unit today.
