After a wrist injury suffered against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, New York Giants linebacker Kayvon Thibodeaux could be set to miss some time.

Per ESPN’s Jordan Raanan, Thibodeaux is listed as week-to-week following surgery on his injured wrist. Raanan noted that it “doesn’t sound like” Thibodeaux will be able to play against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday.

Thibodeaux suffered a fractured scaphoid bone in Sunday’s matchup but played through the injury to finish the game, according to Ranaan. While recovery from the surgery could keep him off the field on Sunday, head coach Brian Daboll expressed confidence that it won’t be a season-ending injury.

“Yeah, again, I’m not going to give you a timeline or anything like that,” Daboll said. “I would just say he’s week to week. I’m encouraged with what I’ve heard, but again, you never know.”

The star pass rusher, now in his third season in the NFL, has 12 tackles, two sacks and three tackles for loss so far this year, also recording the second-most quarterback hits on the team with seven. He’s been a part of a defense that leads the league in sacks with 22 through five games.

In his second year in the league last season, Thibodeaux picked up 50 tackles and led the Giants with 11.5 sacks.

With Thibodeaux sidelined, New York will look to Azeez Ojulari to fill in for him on the outside. The fourth-year linebacker has dealt with injuries throughout his first few years in the league but showed potential in his rookie year when he recorded eight sacks.

New York is off to a 2-3 start to the season with losses to the Minnesota Vikings, Washington Commanders and Dallas Cowboys. The Giants are now looking to use their win in Seattle as a momentum-builder as they host the Bengals this week.
