Victoria Monét, Shaboozey, And More Honored At 2024 TIME100 Next Gala

The 2024 TIME100 Next Gala took place at Pier59 in New York City on Wednesday (Oct. 9). This year’s honorees, Victoria Monét, Shaboozey, Vince Staples, Jaylen Brown, Aaron Pierre, Brandon Blackwood, Reneé Rapp, and Sabrina Carpenter were all recognized with the coveted honor.

Yara Shahidi said the JAGUAR II songstress “embodies the essence of an Artist with a capital A.” She continued, “As a lover of history, I’m inspired by how Victoria pays homage to the artists who paved the way and the culture that shaped her, all while continuously innovating. There’s a deep reverence in how she honors their legacies, yet creates something uniquely her own. Her influence is indisputable, not just within the music industry, but in the lives of all who experience her art.” It’s reminiscent of another global superstar who loves to pay homage to her lineage.

Jelly Roll described Shaboozey as “innovative, honest, charismatic, and charming in a way that’s real,” but most of all, he’s “proud” to have the “Bar Song (Tipsy)” rapper representing country music.

Colin Kaepernick expressed that Brown was “more than an NBA star; he’s a force for justice and change.” The activist praised the Celtics star‘s philanthropic efforts and labeled him a “beacon of hope,” adding, “I stand with him, inspired by the path he’s paving for us all.”

Quinta Brunson declared Staples as “your favorite rapper’s favorite rapper.” She detailed how “cool” it is to be both a fan and friend to someone like the “Norf Norf” rapper who “has no shortage of fantastic ideas and can do whatever he wants.”

Compared to TIME100, the TIME100 Next list “was created to recognize that many of today’s most influential leaders are individuals who are not waiting long in life to make an impact. Nor are they eager to respect the status quo by following the traditional power structures and pathways that have determined what influence looked like in the past.”

The outlet also noted, “TIME100 Next has no age requirements; its aim is to recognize that influence does not have them either, nor does leadership look like it once did.”

Not all honorees were present to celebrate the nod in-person, but here’s what you missed from the red carpet and inside the event.
