Weezer Returns to Fortnite in Sweat(er) City In-Game Event

Weezer is returning to Fortnite in a new UGC activation from Look North World, led by Bungie Founder Alexander Seropian. The open-world crime simulator Sweat(er) City will bring the thrills of Weezer’s Voyage to the Blue Planet North America tour while celebrating the 30th anniversary of The Blue Album.The new co-op heist game will run for one month, from October 11 to November 11. The Weezer event in Sweat(er) City brings the band’s music to life in a series of new and sometimes surprise in-game moments including a guitar weapon that plays the “Buddy Holly” guitar riff upon elimination. The world also features a re-created Arnold’s Drive-In from the music video, adding a nostalgic touch to gameplay.

Players can also snap selfies in front of a blue wall inspired by Weezer’s Blue Album and battle a Rivers Cuomo NPC boss wielding a sweater yarn stun gun. The collaboration follows in the footsteps of ‘Weezer World,’ which was one of the earliest artist collaborations to feature in Fortnite in 2019.

Sweat(er) City is a new 24-player Unreal Editor for Fortnite-created open-world island where players can plan elaborate heists to strike it rich by stealing artwork, sculptures, and cold hard cash from banks, museums, arcades, and more. More heists mean more gold to fund a lavish lifestyle full of head-turning skins and swag, acclaimed cars, and a luxurious penthouse—but committing crimes also means you earn Most Wanted stars.Most Wanted stars put a target on a player’s back, allowing other crews to cash in the bounty. The game features three rival factions—the Nitro gang, the Viper Squadron, and the Shadow Empire. Players will uncover more about these factions and their respective turfs as they execute their crime spree across the island. Essentially, the game is a UGC version of Grand Theft Auto Online, self-contained in Fortnite with a coat of Weezer paint.
