The Linc -up Browns offensive line

Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles links …

Eagles vs. Browns: Five matchups to watch – PhillyVoice
Wyatt Teller is a two-time All-Pro who has also made three Pro Bowls. He went on IR with a knee injury after the Browns’ loss to the Giants Week 3. He will not play in this game. Jedrick Wills (knee) and Jack Conklin (hamstring) were limited in practice both on Wednesday and Thursday. They will probably (?) play on Sunday, but they are banged up. Ethan Pocic has a knee injury, and has not yet practiced this week, as of this writing. The only healthy starter is Joel Bitonio. Beyond the starters… OT backup James Hudson is on IR. OG backup Zak Zinter has a knee injury and was limited on Wednesday and Thursday. OT Hakeem Adeniji is on IR. C Luke Wypler is on IR. Who exactly will start, and where, is to be determined. #FeastinMeterâ„ąïž: The Eagles haven’t created pressure against anyone all year. They’ll have an opportunity to get after an extremely banged-up Browns offensive line. And yet, I can only put the #FeastinMeterâ„ąïž at 4 turkey legs.

PFF Grades and Data: Key insights for every NFL Week 6 game – PFF
Deshaun Watson‘s 3.09-second average time to throw is tied for the third slowest in the NFL this season, and his tendency to hold onto the football has made him a target for opposing defenses. He has absorbed 32 combined sacks and hits on dropbacks lasting over 3.0 seconds—14 more than any other quarterback. Meanwhile, the Eagles’ defense has struggled to capitalize on extended plays by opposing quarterbacks. On 32 snaps where quarterbacks held the ball for 3.0 seconds or more, the Eagles have managed just three hits or sacks—a 9% knockdown rate, the lowest in the league.

In many cases, the Eagles should have known better – BGN
No one apparently listened or were willing to even notice. Back in April, just before the 2024 NFL Draft, Bleeding Green Nation posed the question if the Eagles were still in denial over their epic 2023 collapse. One of the issues raised was the signing of free agent linebacker Devin White, whose locker room attitude and deteriorating play was noted by his steady drop of tackles over the last four years, 97, 87, 73 and a career-low 49 last season. It was also noticeable, “He was invisible during the end of last season for the Bucs, and according to some Tampa sources, his rapid decline confines him to nothing more than a special teams player.” The Eagles and Howie Roseman knew that—or should have known that if White was vetted properly (as someone in the Tampa Bay organization put it, “If you can’t get along with (Bucs’ head coach) Todd Bowles, you can’t get along with anyone.”). In 2023, the Eagles finished 26th overall in total defense, surrendering an average of 356.1 yards a game. This year, with the venerated Vic Fangio calling the shots, the Eagles are actually ranked one slot lower through four games, at No. 27 overall, giving up an average of 365.8 yards a game.

Browns vs. Eagles: Scouting the Philadelphia Eagles with our Q&A with Bleeding Green Nation – Dawgs By Nature
This Sunday, the Cleveland Browns stay on the road as they take on the Philadelphia Eagles. To help preview a few topics from the Eagles’ perspective, we reached out to Brandon Gowton from Bleeding Green Nation and exchanged five questions with him.

To Do List – Iggles Blitz
Players can help the coaches to work with young players. A simple tip can sometimes make a world of difference. If players work on these things in practice, it should help them in games. It will be interesting to see if Mitchell plays the ball better the next time it comes his way. Protecting the ball is a major issue, and that’s true going back to last year. I don’t know what the coaches are telling Jalen Hurts and the other players. I would focus on Hurts and stress to him to not force things. It feels like that has been the key problem. You want Hurts to be aggressive, but in a smart way. He’s been reckless at times. That’s not good.

Sirianni, Eagles facing key stretch – ESPN
The less optimistic view is that something with the Eagles is fundamentally broken. They have lost eight of their past 11 games dating to last season. Their 21.5 points per game average this year is just a point higher than the average over their last six regular-season games in 2023 when they collapsed. Hurts now has 27 turnovers since the start of last season, which leads all players. The defense remains unreliable and out of sync. A home loss against Deshaun Watson and the anemic Browns would put the city on high alert. If the Eagles go .500 or worse during this four-game stretch, the pressure around this team would skyrocket just as the schedule intensifies — they play the Dallas Cowboys, Washington Commanders and Baltimore Ravens over a four-week stretch starting in early November. Calls for Sirianni’s job, currently at a murmur, would build toward a roar. On the other hand, if a now-healthy Eagles squad bulldozes the Browns and sweeps this four-game stretch or goes 3-1, the city’s gaze would move away from the sky (in fear of falling objects) and toward the standings, where their team would be near the top of the NFC. Pro-Sirianni arguments would gain momentum as he charges toward yet another postseason appearance. Both outcomes are completely within the realm of possibility. The next four weeks will tell us plenty about the staying power of the Sirianni-led Eagles.

Brandon Graham eyes another milestone: 1st Eagle to play in 200 regular-season games – PE.com
Defensive end Brandon Graham plays in his 200th regular-season game as an Eagle on Sunday against the Cleveland Browns, the only player in franchise history to reach that mark. It is an incredible accomplishment, one currently held by only four other active NFL defensive players – Washington linebacker Nick Bellore, Miami defensive lineman Calais Campbell, Houston defensive end Jerry Hughes, and New Orleans defensive end Cameron Jordan. “I’m enjoying the moments now, but then it’s going to be something to talk about later with my kids and stuff like that,” Graham said. “Remember this, remember that, but I’m sure they’re going to remember some stuff, but not everything. Just trying to enjoy it now. You don’t get here by accident, but it’s what we do. Gotta go out and win this week, that’s the number one thing, so I’m always trying to keep that at the forefront. We gotta win. Happy to have gotten here, but hope I go out and have to have a good game.”

The Best NFL Bets for Week 6 – The Ringer
Cleveland Browns at Philadelphia Eagles (-8.5). Are we certain that the Eagles should really be favored by 8.5 points against anyone? Philadelphia’s defense has been graded one of the worst in the NFL through four games, but then again, the same was said about the Commanders before they demolished Cleveland last week. Deshaun Watson and the Browns offense seem to present the perfect opportunity for any struggling defense to bounce back. The Browns are spiraling into offensive dysfunction by sticking with Watson at quarterback, and last week was my first and likely last bet on them in 2024 with him leading the team. The Browns’ power run game identity has vanished, the offensive line is plagued by injuries, and even the defense is showing vulnerabilities that weren’t present last season. Lane Johnson, A.J. Brown, and DeVonta Smith are all returning from injury for Philadelphia. While the Eagles offense hasn’t been at its best, this game presents an opportunity to address some pre-bye-week issues. However, I wouldn’t rush to bet on the Eagles; as favorites in the late stages of last season, they lost to the Cardinals and Giants. Verdict: Pass.

Off to a fantastic start, Jordan Mailata faces huge test vs. Browns – NBCSP
Jordan Mailata is off to the best start in his career but he’s going to face a huge challenge on Sunday at the Linc. Myles Garrett is coming to town. And the reigning Defensive Player of the Year just doesn’t seem to have any weaknesses. “When you find a weak spot, let me know,” Mailata said this week. “I’d love to know. It’s hard to find a weak spot in Myles’ game because the guy is a specimen. But we have a good game plan this week.” Despite battling through a few injuries so far this season and despite the Browns’ lack of team success, Garrett has been disruptive as ever. Through five games, the five-time Pro Bowler has 4 sacks, 8 QB hits, 2 forced fumbles and 4 tackles for loss. While Garrett does rush from both sides, he mostly lines up on the right side of the defensive line. That sets up a battle with Mailata on Sunday. Garrett already has 27 total pressures this season, according to NFL Next Gen Stats and his get-off time of 0.67 seconds ranks second in the NFL.

Week 6 NFL picks: Jaguars or Bears in London? Can Jayden Daniels upset Lamar Jackson in Baltimore? – NFL.com
Why Ali picked the Eagles: Cleveland entered Week 5 generating a measly 3.9 yards per play — the lowest average in the league. Surely a meeting with Washington, which was allowing a whopping 6.2 yards per play at the time (second-most), would kick Kevin Stefanski’s group into gear. Yeah
not quite. The Browns’ abysmal showing last Sunday actually dropped their ypp average to 3.8. Meanwhile, the Commanders’ mark improved by half a yard (5.7), lifting them up five spots in the rankings. Cleveland went 1-for-13 on third-down attempts against Dan Quinn’s defense, which entered the matchup allowing an NFL-worst 54.8 percent conversion rate (now down to 43.6%, if you were wondering). From historically poor QB play, to drops, to penalties, to injuries, to miscommunications — it’s abundantly clear through five games that there’s no easy fix for all of Cleveland’s problems. While Philadelphia’s offense has plenty to work on itself, that unit at least had the bye week to implement some solutions and, most importantly, get healthy. A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith and Lane Johnson, each sidelined for the Eagles’ 17-point loss to the Bucs in Week 4, are expected to be back in uniform on Sunday. We’ve seen several surprising upsets already this season, but the Browns winning at the Linc this weekend would definitely take the cake.

NFL Expert Picks for Week 6 2024 – SB Nation
Here are two teams sharing the same geography, but with polarized expectations entering 2024. We knew Baltimore was going to be good, especially if they could find some more offensive consistency for Lamar Jackson. Derrick Henry has done just that, and it’s allowed this team to soar — but they’re not without their issues at wide receiver. Meanwhile the Commanders were widely pegged to be the cellar dwellers of the NFC East alongside the Giants. Now at 4-1 they’ve become a legitimate threat. Powered by one of the league’s best defenses, Washington’s offense with Jayden Daniels and Kliff Kingsbury is thriving with efficient football that racks up the wins.

Roquan Smith claims Jayden Daniels hasn’t seen a defense like theirs this season – Hogs Haven
The Washington Commanders and Baltimore Ravens are both seeking to extend their respective winning streaks this Sunday in what should be one of the more electric matchups of the entire NFL season. Cordell Woodland, who covers the Baltimore Ravens for 105.7 The Fan, previewed the Commanders’ week six game on the latest Trap or Dive episode. Woodland said that while many of the Ravens’ players spoke in a neutral or positive tone about the Commanders, Roquan Smith was more outspoken than most.

Cowboys vs. Lions: 3 reasons why Dallas may be at a significant disadvantage in Week 6 – Blogging The Boys
Reason #1 – Too many injuries. Jared Goff probably isn’t too concerned about the Cowboys pass rush this week with Micah Parsons, DeMarcus Lawrence, and Marshawn Kneeland expected to miss this matchup. And the Lions defense is probably looking forward to squaring off against the Cowboys offense with WR Brandin Cooks out and with Tyler Guyton getting banged up last week. All in all, Dallas is the walking wounded right now giving the Lions a significant advantage. Dallas’ bye in Week 7 can’t get here soon enough.

Giants injury report: Malik Nabers is in ‘the same spot’ Thursday as he was Wednesday – Big Blue View
The New York Giants Thursday injury report is highlighted by one glaring omission from the practice field: Star rookie receiver Malik Nabers. Head coach Brian Daboll said Thursday that Nabers is in the “same spot” in the protocol Thursday as he was Wednesday. Anecdotally, Dan Duggan of The Athletic noted that Nabers was doing less on the practice field on Thursday than Wednesday. Duggan notes that Nabers was simply riding the bike on the side after running and doing football-related drills on Wednesday. Being cleared to do simple aerobic activity — such as riding the bike — is the second phase of the concussion protocol. Nabers will need to be cleared by an independent neurologist for football-specific exercise, then non-contract drills, before being cleared to return to the field. At this point, Nabers could be in danger of not clearing the concussion protocol for the Giants’ game against the Cincinnati Bengal Sunday Night Football.

Jets defensive end Haason Reddick splits with his agents – Gang Green Nation
Reddick has yet to report to the Jets since the Eagles traded him to New York in the spring. He has been seeking a new contract and has lost millions of dollars from fines and unreceived paychecks for sitting out the team’s mandatory minicamp, training camp, and the first five games of the season. Obviously anything we could say about the reasons behind the split would be speculation. It would also be speculation to suggest what this could mean for Reddick’s holdout and the possibility of him finally reporting to the Jets.
