Welcome to Streaming Rewind, a weekly breakdown of the new and noteworthy as we work to help readers wade through the absolute deluge of television series and movies in the streaming space. Watch everything on this week’s list already? Check out our last entry on Rings of Power’s major bombshell, Vox Machina, and more.

Long weekends are practically made for rotting in front of the television. Luckily, there are a lot of new and exciting things on streaming to catch up on or otherwise check out this weekend. Here’s what you may have missed and what will premiere over the next few days. And don’t forget, The Penguin has moved to Sundays, so be sure to check out Episode 4 if you’ve been keeping up. If you haven’t, you can stream Episodes 1-3 on Max now. The next three episodes of The Legend of Vox Machina have hit Prime Video, too!

Big Week For Agatha All AlongAgatha All Along came out swinging in Episode 5. With four episodes left in the season, we’ve already seen another major character death and know the identity of The Teen. From a TV nerd perspective, what’s so exciting here is seeing a mid-season episode do exactly what it’s meant to for the first time in a while. “Darkest Hour/Wake Thy Power” doesn’t just progress the story, it provides the audience with major intrigue that has us all asking what comes next. The dreadfully brief 8-9 episode arcs of late typically save such things for the penultimate episode, which just isn’t how television storytelling is meant to be structured. With these reveals coming sooner rather than later, we know that there are even bigger reveals on the horizon. If Agatha All Along continues this pace, we’re in for one hell of a finale.

Yellowjackets Season 1 Is on NetflixWhile I have no idea why their licensing deal is only for Season 1 rather than both existing seasons of the series, if you’ve been waiting to binge Yellowjackets without another new subscription now’s your chance. You’ll still need to get Showtime to check out Season 2 — or pay for the add-on via Prime Video, Paramount+, or FuboTV. But, whether you’re like the rest of us trying to make it through a painfully long hiatus (we won’t see Season 3 until 2025) or you’ve been waiting for the show to become more accessible, now’s your moment!

Tempest in a TeacupTeacup — executive produced by none other than the James Wan and showrun by Ian McCulloch — has finally dropped its first two episodes on Peacock. The one-two punch of the first two chapters of the unsettling story set up a delicious amount of intrigue and end with one hell of a gory reveal. The series itself will be dropping two-episodes at a time on Peacock as well, and boasts a logline of “trapped on a farm in rural Georgia, a group of neighbors must put aside their differences and unite in the face of a mysterious and deadly threat.”

If you’re looking for a month-long watch for spooky season, Teacup is setting itself up to be a wonderfully twisty-turny option.

Don’t You Want to Play With Mr. Crocket?Mr. Crocket hits Hulu today, and is worth your time for the fun practical effects alone. Here’s what I had to say about the film out of Fantastic Fest this year:

Mr. Crocket (Elvis Nolasco) is a host on a children’s television program with a proclivity for kidnapping children from naughty parents. Oh, and he’s a demon probably? Writer/director Brandon Espy has plenty of fun with the concept and leans heavily into practical effects for Mr. Crocket’s monstrous TV-time friends. This will be a part of Hulu’s Huluween offerings and is worth the 90-minute watch.

The Most Underrated Horror Titles On StreamingWatch Reservation DogsMonday is Indigenous Peoples’ Day. While there are a ton of great documentaries you should check out (Another Word for Learning, Out of State, Powerlands, This Is the Way We Rise, etc.), the world’s kinda rough right now. So, if you’re looking for an easy watch that still showcases a whole host of Indigenous talent in front of and behind the camera, now’s a great time to check out or rewatch FX’s absolutely incredible Reservation Dogs on Hulu.
