Newcastle United injury update – NUFC defender hamstring now makes it 7 in doubt v Brighton
A new Newcastle United injury update.
With The Mail reporting that their information is that a hamstring issue will keep Kieran Trippier out for a while.
They say the injury was picked up when the Newcastle defender was forced off in the second-half at Everton six days ago.
However, the issue will hopefully mean weeks out, rather than months. Though the likelihood is, according to the reports from The Mail and others, that it will be enough to see Trippier be missing until after the November international break.
As you can see from the fixtures below, that would mean Brighton, Chelsea, Arsenal and Forest in the Premier League to be missed, plus Chelsea in the cup.
Ahead of Brighton in eight days time, this latest Newcastle United injury update means there are at least seven doubts:
Kieran Trippier – Hamstring
Alexander Isak – Eddie Howe said that he hoped to have the striker back for Brighton, the striker having rest from club and country matches, to settle down a not serious (according to Howe) fracture to Isak’s toe.
Jamaal Lascelles – Recovery from knee surgery is ongoing but Eddie Howe has said hopefully there will soon be progress, in terms of being capable of mapping out the possible return to first team action
Sven Botman – See Jamaal Lascelles.
Callum Wilson – A few weeks ago, Eddie Howe said the intention was that the striker would return to full training throughout this October international break. With the hoped for possibility of him being considered for the matchday squad against Brighton.
Lewis Miley – The teenager was ‘back on the grass’ in September and Eddie Howe hoping he like Callum Wilson would be able to join in with full group training during this current international break, with a view to hopefully coming back into consideration for Brighton.
Martin Dubravka – Took a nasty bang on the knee against AFC Wimbledon which eventually forced him off at half-time. Left out of the matchday squad at Everton and then missing the Slovakia internationals this month, hopefully the rest seeing him back available for Brighton. No news of any lasting damage after that cup match 10 days ago.
