Dwight Howard, Stephen Nedoroscik, Danny Amendola and Ilona Maher all advanced to waltz another day on Dancing with the Stars.

The retired NBA center, 2024 Olympic gymnast, former NFL wide receiver and rugby star received enough votes to move on to the next week. Howard’s fate went right down to the wire as he had to wait until the very end to hear he and dance partner Daniella Karagach had been spared.

The theme for Tuesday’s episode was the dancers dedicating their performances to personal causes.

Nedoroscik chose to highlight men’s gymnastics since the sport is broadly facing an uncertain future at the college level. He and Rylee Arnold performed an Argentine tango that impressed the judges and earned them a score of 33 out of 40.

Appropriately, the routine started with a quick run on the pommel horse from Nedoroscik.

Entertainment Weekly @EWOlympian Stephen Nedoroscik kicked off his tango on ‘Dancing With the Stars’ with a routine on the pommel horse. The dance, dedicated to men’s gymnastics, earned him his highest score yet. https://t.co/5DqCSNRMDt

Amendola was up next and he honored Mike Leach, his coach at Texas Tech who died in 2022. Going with a contemporary dance, the two-time Super Bowl champion and Witney Carson dazzled the crowd and judging panel. They received nines across the board for an overall score of 36.

Howard and Daniella Karagach had a tough act to follow with their take on the rumba. While they only got a 29, the eight-time All-Star was clearly having a good time on the dance floor.

Amber Corcoran @AmberDiana018The absolute joy that is radiating off of Dwight Howard’s face has he danced the is SO beautiful and pure 🥹🥹 he’s like a giant teddy bear #DWTS

Meagan Glover @MeaganGTVDwight Howard seems to be having a lot of fun on Dancing With the Stars and I love that

Marie ♡ @mariestellaa_I just love @DwightHoward 😭#DWTS

Maher was the last of the athlete contingent to take the stage. She sought to redeem herself after a tough episode last week and did just that with her and Alan Bersten’s take on the rumba. They received a 32 overall score.

Disney Night is next on the Dancing with the Stars schedule.

Nedoroscik, Howard, Amendola and Maher are all accustomed to competing under pressure. The tension they feel as the field continues to dwindle might be a little unlike what they’re used to, however.
