On Wednesday, Carolina Panthers head coach Dave Canales told reporters that backup quarterback Bryce Young was playing the role of Jayden Daniels to prepare the defense ahead of Sunday’s matchup with the Washington Commanders.

Given that the Panthers (1-5) gave up major assets to trade up and select Young No. 1 overall, only to bench him just two games into his second season, having him play the role of Daniels on the scout team felt reminiscent of a classic meme format.

Panthers’ fans: “Boy, it sure would be nice if we had a quarterback like Daniels.”

The Panthers: “Hey now, we have Daniels at home.”

Sorry, Panthers fans—times are tough, we know.
