How do you gift skins in Fortnite? There are a few restrictions, but there are methods for giving skins, Battle passes, even a method for how do you gift skins from your locker.

If you want to spread the love around a bit, Fortnite has a cool feature. You can gift skins in Fortnite to give another player a cosmetic! Just like passing a gift in real life. It’s one of the rare ways you can actually share item shop purchases.

Fortnite doesn’t allow the buying and selling of skins outside of when they offer them. Or Fortnite accounts for that matter. This means there are quite a few restrictions on how you can gift skins in Fortnite.

If you want to buy someone else an item in-game, you’ve two options. Physically going to them and paying for their V-Bucks, which is kind of weird.  Could run you a lot if it’s one of the most expensive Fortnite skins too.

Then there’s the in-built system to get it done, gift skins in Fortnite using their in-game present system. But how do you gift people skins in Fortnite?

Since Fortnite skins live and die on FOMO though, there are some drawbacks. There are rules to how you gift skins in Fortnite and certain things you’ll have to keep in mind.

If you want to pass skins to your friends, then this is how everything works in-game:

How Do you Gift Skins in Fortnite?
To gift skins in Fortnite, all you need to do is head into the Item shop and go through the gifting process. You don’t gift from your own items, but from the store. This is because the system for how do you gift skins in Fortnite is a bit restrictive on what’s eligible.

Plenty of the top Fortnite skins rotate through the item shop though! You can pick up a recent release and send it over to a friend, it’s simple. However, if you’re wondering how do you gift skins from your locker that won’t work.

If you want a step-by-step guide to gifting things from the Item Shop, then this is how you can do it:

Open the Item Shop
Find the item you want to gift to a friend
Click the Gift option once you’re viewing the item
Select the Friend you want to send the skin to

That’s how to gift skin in Fortnite, but there are a few restrictions. There are also some things you’ll need to keep in mind when gifting skins.

The first is essentially that there are no refunds.

Once you gift a skin, it’s gone to that person. They can refund it and send it back for you. however, you can’t take back the gift! Even if you have all your Fortnite refund tokens, you can’t take a gift back.

You will need to be careful. This isn’t a matter of how do you gift people skins in Fortnite, but that you’re sending them to the right person. Make sure you’re gifting it to the right account. It doesn’t hurt to double-check with this, otherwise, you could end up sending it to the wrong place.

What Skins Can You Gift in Fortnite?

Gifting things in Fortnite is pretty simple to do, but it is a little restricted. Players can’t just pick any skin from the catalog of outfits and send it over. Most of the rarest Fortnite skins aren’t going to be giftable unless they come back to the store.

There’s no answer to how do you gift skins in Fortnite that can get around a skin being unavailable right now.

You can gift items that are in the item shop. Things that another player could easily go into and purchase for themselves. Essentially, you’re paying for the skin, but it’s just those that are available.

If you’re trying to gift something rarer, something you already have, then it’s a bit more difficult. In the case of the rarest Fortnite skins, pretty much impossible.

How Do You Gift Skins in Fortnite from Your Locker?

If you’re wondering how to gift skins in Fortnite that are already in your locker, that’s not an option right now.

Fortnite’s item shop runs on FOMO. Only in recent seasons has the Battle Pass not been exclusive to that period of Fortnite’s history. Once a skin is gone, it’s gone.

That means players can’t send their friends old skins with the traditional methods methods for how do you gift skins in Fortnite. If your friend missed out on a skin that doesn’t come back and you don’t want yours, there’s nothing you can do about it.

You can’t gift skins from your locker in Fortnite unfortunately. You can only wait until item shop skins come back and then gift them. Unless they’re from a Bundle, or current Battle Pass.

How Do You Gift Skins You Already Have?

Much like how to gift skins from your locker in Fortnite, you can’t gift any skins you already have.

If you’ve amassed a little collection of skins through the Battle Pass over the years, you can’t gift these. It’s unfortunate but players are locked out.

Epic tends to keep quite close control over skin ownership. They don’t allow you to buy or sell Fortnite accounts. Cutting out skin gifting without restrictions was done for pretty much the same reason.

If you were able to gift skins you already have, players could get around the account-selling restrictions. They could take payment, and then gift the entire skin inventory over.

That would be a problem, so this isn’t allowed in-game. Players can’t gift skins they already have unless they’re freely available in the shop that day. Instead, you need to wait until a skin comes back into the Item Shop.

If it’s a non item-shop skin you’re trying to gift, there are two other cases where you can gift skins in Fortnite. However, still no good answer to how do you gift skins from your locker in most cases.

Gifting the Battle Pass
Just like any other Bundle in Fortnite or skin in the item shop, players can gift a Battle Pass! Although, you can only gift the current Battle Pass. You can’t gift old ones or things you own from passes from past Fortnite seasons.

To gift the current Battle Pass, just find it in the item store and go through the same steps as how to gift skins in Fortnite normally.

With a Battle Pass gift, you can give people quite a few skins. Plus, the v-Bucks back to get the next one. This is one of the better value gifts out there for players.

Bundles and Other Items
There’s one more set of items you can gift in Fortnite. You can gift bundles! These work in a few different ways. The bundles currently in the store you can gift like any other item in the game.

However, older bundles can be gifted too. For these older Bundles, you can buy a code outside of Fortnite. Instead of redeeming it yourself, you just hand it to a friend. Send them the Fortnite redeem code to gift it!

This last one isn’t the same as most methods for how to gift skins in Fortnite you already own. Since you’re just physically gifting something. However, it does work.

If you already own a bundle or skin code and buy a second one, this can be. Great way to actually gift skins from your locked in Fortnite!

How Do You Gift Skins from Your Locker?
Outside of that, there’s no other way to gift skins that are already in your locker and expired in-game. The method for gifting skins you can buy though is quite generous, so if you feel like it you can make sure your entire squad is kitted out in new looks for Fortnite.

How do you gift skins in Fortnite that you already have? Unless it’s still in the shop you can’t, which is a frustrating restriction.

If you want to gift skins that you already have, you’re limited to the methods above. You can gift skins from a Battle Pass currently running by gifting the pass, or a bundle you have by buying the code. Otherwise, you can’t gift them, unfortunately.
