Burberry celebrates contemporary British art, culture and creativity

At Burberry, we are proud to celebrate British creativity in all of its forms.

We hosted a series of talks centring around art, fashion and culture that coincided with Frieze London and Art Basel Paris.

London

Burberry and System Magazine hosted an intimate evening of cultural conversation at the Burberry Bond Street flagship store, with musician and BRIT Award and Mercury Prize nominee Loyle Carner and renowned photographer and filmmaker Gabriel Moses. The talk was moderated by Bengi nsal, director of the Institute of Contemporary Arts London.

Discussions centred around fashion, art and music, with themes resonating with Burberrys brand values. Both artists discussed London as a hub of creativity, the cultural influences that have inspired their careers, and the importance of community within the industry.

Paris

Burberry and Art Basel Paris hosted an evening of cultural conversation at the Burberry Avenue Montaigne store. London-based mixed-media artist Alvaro Barrington joined Patrick Steffen, senior editor of Art Basel Paris, to discuss the intersections of art, fashion and culture. Barringtons work is acclaimed for its vibrant depictions of identity, migration, community and self-love. While primarily a painter, he has also embraced performance, fashion and philanthropy.

In celebration of Burberrys outerwear and rich archive, the store also showcased a display of six archive replicas on display for the duration of Art Basel Paris. Alongside, a curated cart display featuring archival imagery presented Burberrys storied past and its enduring impact on contemporary fashion through protection, functionality and innovation.

Burberry has also published a bespoke limited-edition zine in collaboration with the London-based style and culture magazine System. Coinciding with the launch of the Outerwear 2024 campaign, the 25-page publication is a celebration of Burberrys history in outerwear.

A feature called I Love This One sees industry figures including Alexandra Carl, fashion stylist and consultant, Mark Lebon, esteemed British photographer, and David Owen, co-founder of counterculture bookshop IDEA, share their most cherished Burberry archive pieces. The zine will be distributed at the London and Paris events, across select flagship stores, and within Issue 24 of System magazine.

Burberry and The Arts

In 2022, Burberry supported the National Gallerys inaugural Summer Party and was the headline partner of the Summer Party in 2023. This year, Burberry was a philanthropic supporter of NG200, the National Gallerys year-long festival programme to celebrate its 200th anniversary.

Showing support for emerging artists, Burberry and the Royal Academy of Arts awarded photographer and filmmaker Christine Wilkinson the Thomas Burberry Prize in 2023 a grant of 20,000. In the same year, Burberry partnered with Tate Britain to support a major retrospective of British artist Sarah Lucas, the critically acclaimed Sarah Lucas: Happy Gas.

In April 2024, Burberry returned for a second consecutive year to the Biennale di Venezia as the headline sponsor of the British Pavilion, commissioned by the British Council, which presented a new exhibition titled Listening All Night To The Rain by artist and filmmaker John Akomfrah.

Most recently, Burberrys Summer 2025 collection was presented at the National Theatre, with an original set created by British artist Gary Hume, a key figure in the influential Young British Artists (YBA) movement of the 1990s, a Royal Academician and an enduring figure in contemporary art.
