3 ruled out, 1 questionable for Eagles vs. Bengals in Week 8

ā€¢

The Philadelphia Eagles (4-2) travel to Paycor Stadium on Sunday (1 p.m., EST) to face the Cincinnati Bengals (3-4) in a matchup that will feature two of the best wide receiver duos in the NFL.

But after some late-breaking injury news on Friday afternoon, Cincinnatiā€™s duo could be down to one.Ā

Bengals star Tee Higgins was added to the injury report Friday as a limited participant with a quadriceps injury. His absence would be a major blow to a Bengals passing game thatā€™s shown improvement over the teamā€™s last four games.

The Eagles will be without a handful of starters, including star left tackle Jordan Mailata, who was placed on injured reserve with a hamstring injury. Fred Johnson will make his second consecutive start in Mailataā€™s place against the Bengals.

Hereā€™s a full injury breakdown for Sundayā€™s matchup off of Fridayā€™s final practice report:

Eagles vs. Bengals: Full injury designationsCincinnati BengalsQuestionableWR Tee Higgins (quad)Getting added to the injury report on a Friday is never a good sign. Higgins missed Cincinnatiā€™s first two games of the season with a hamstring issue, but had been hot since his return. Heā€™s caught 20 total passes and three touchdowns from quarterback Joe Burrow in the Bengalsā€™ last three games. If Higgins is ruled out, wide receiver Andrei Iosivas and rookie tight end Erick All Jr. could be more involved in the pass game.

Philadelphia EaglesOutTE Dallas Goedert (hamstring)Injured early in Phillyā€™s win over the Cleveland Browns two weeks ago, Goedert has been unable to practice in any capacity since. Grant Calcaterra will make his second straight start as the Eaglesā€™ top pass-catching tight end.

RG Mekhi Becton (concussion)Ā Still working through the NFLā€™s five-step concussion protocol, Becton was unable to progress toward practicing this week. Tyler Steen will make his first start of the season at right guard after playing extremely well in that spot in relief of Becton in Phillyā€™s Week 3 win over the New Orleans Saints.

DT Byron Young (hamstring)Ā The reserve nose tackle is yet to play in a game this season for the Eagles, and he wonā€™t be anytime soon after being placed on injured reserve on Friday. The second-year lineman was claimed off waivers by the Eagles from the Las Vegas Raiders after roster cut-down day.
