Eagles and Raiders trade proposal sends $94 million superstar to Philadelphia

The Las Vegas Raiders’ 2024 season hasn’t gone to plan, as the team is 2-5 and in last place in the AFC West. Antonio Pierce’s squad has lost three consecutive games and four of its last five and has little hope for the rest of the year.

With the Raiders’ disappointing campaign only getting worse, the team could look to move some of their veteran assets ahead of the Nov.5 trade deadline. Las Vegas desperately needs a rebuild and should focus on stockpiling draft picks.

Though he is a fan favorite and the face of the franchise, superstar edge rusher Maxx Crosby could end up being one of those players on the market. Crosby has voiced his desire to remain in Las Vegas, and owner Mark Davis has scoffed at the idea of trading him, but the Raiders could still end up dealing the veteran if a historic offer is on the table.

The likelihood of Crosby playing elsewhere is slim, but The Athletic’s Jacob Robinson and Dianna Russini have constructed an intriguing trade package that would send the three-time Pro Bowler to the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for a 2025 first, fourth, and fifth-round pick, plus a 2026 second-rounder.

Hear me out. GM Howie Roseman has a history of successfully acquiring big-name, win-now talent — A.J. Brown cost a first and third in 2022 — and has two extra fifths this year, plus the Jets’ third in 2026. Crosby would need to accept a contract restructure, but he’d give Philly a needed edge rusher to improve its middling pass rush (15th in pass rush win rate) and give himself a shot at a Super Bowl.

This is an underwhelming return for the Raiders in a projected Crosby trade, as the franchise would only receive two top-100 picks in the deal.

General manager Tom Telesco’s asking price for the two-time second-team All-Pro selection should start at a first and second-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft and a few more top-100 picks in future drafts. 

The Eagles’ pass rush has been sporadic this season, as edge rusher Bryce Huff hasn’t lived up to expectations, and 15-year veteran Brandon Graham isn’t the same player he used to be. 

Trading for Crosby would be an exceptional move from general manager Howie Roseman, as the former Eastern Michigan standout has established himself as one of the most dominant players in the league over the last few seasons and would immediately revive Philadelphia’s vacant pass rush. 

This would be a fantastic deal for the Eagles but horrid for the Raiders. Las Vegas wouldn’t maximize its most valuable trade asset and lose a fan favorite, while Philadelphia would acquire a future Hall of Famer in the middle of his prime and instantly solve its most pressing need.
