World Series 2024 live score: Dodgers vs. Yankees updates, results, highlights from Game 4
On Tuesday night, the Dodgers have an opportunity to claim their eighth World Series title in franchise history.
What was projected to be a thrilling matchup between two of the most star-studded teams in MLB has been lopsided so far, as the Dodgers own a 3-0 series lead over the Yankees in the 2024 World Series. Now, the two teams will meet in Game 4, as Los Angeles aims to sweep and New York hopes to live another day.
The World Series moved to the Bronx on Monday, but even on the road, the Dodgers continued to shut down the Yankees’ lineup while using their power to put runs on the board. Freddie Freeman homered once again, his third of the World Series in as many games, and after his heroics in Game 1, the veteran first baseman looks like the favorite for the series MVP award if his squad can win one more game.
Strangely enough, neither World Series team has gotten strong production from its likely 2024 MVP winner. For the Dodgers, Shohei Ohtani went 0-for-3 in Game 3 and has just one hit in the series so far. He has been dealing with a shoulder injury lately, but it hasn’t appeared to impact his swing or playing status.Â
As for New York, Aaron Judge has been in the midst of one of the worst stretches of his career — and it’s been on the biggest stage. Judge is 1-for-12 with seven strikeouts in the World Series. Despite being surrounded by Juan Soto and Giancarlo Stanton in the Yankees’ lineup, the team hasn’t been able to overcome Judge’s struggles.
Facing elimination in Tuesday’s Game 4, the Yankees will give the right-handed Luis Gil the ball. Gil was one of the American League’s best starters throughout the 2024 season, posting a 15-7 record, 3.50 ERA and 171 strikeouts in 151.2 innings pitched.Â
Behind a dominant bullpen, strong performances from their starting pitchers and timely hits, the Dodgers are on the verge of a World Series title. With a win on Tuesday, Los Angeles could claim its second title in five years.
