Bronny James live stats: Lakers vs. Cavaliers updates, results, highlights from homecoming game for LeBron and son

Bronny James’ rookie season with the Lakers continues Wednesday when he and the team face the Cavaliers in Cleveland.

The game is a homecoming of sorts for James, who, like his father, was born in Akron, Ohio. With LeBron James playing for the Cavs and Heat, Bronny James spent his formative years in Ohio and Miami before the family moved to Los Angeles in 2018.

With the homecoming narrative serving as one of the many storylines in the game, Bronny James is expected to get his second taste of NBA action as Los Angeles continues a five-game road trip.

The Sporting News will track James’ performance as the Lakers look to hand the Cavs their first loss of the young NBA season.

8:32 p.m. ET: Lakers go on a quick 6-0 run to get the Cavs lead back within 20, forcing a Cleveland timeout. LeBron James has 18 points to lead the team.

8:25 p.m. ET: Cleveland has extended its lead even more, taking a 75-51 difference into the first timeout of the half. Mitchell has reached 20 points on the night.

8:19 p.m. ET: The second half begins as the Lakers try to close the deficit, but the Cavs hit a three to open the half. 

Halftime: Cavaliers 67, Lakers 488:04 p.m. ET:  The first half ends with both teams trading blows, resulting in an even second quarter. Jarrett Allen and Donovan Mitchell have a combined 35 points to help Cleveland open a big lead.

7:51 p.m. ET: Jarrett Allen has a double-double already, totaling 12 points and 10 rebounds in just 15 minutes. Cavs have a 52-34 lead mid-way through the second quarter.

End of first quarter: Cavaliers 42, Lakers 237:33 p.m. ET: LeBron checks back into the game as the Cavaliers close the first quarter as hot as they started, ending the period with a 19-point lead.

7:30 p.m. ET: LeBron James checks out of the game for Max Christie as Cleveland continues its hot start, as the lead is extended to 32-20.

7:25 p.m. ET: The Cavaliers hot start continues as Cleveland extends its lead to 11, forcing the Lakers to call their second timeout of the first quarter.
