Jordan Love (groin) expected to start in Packers’ first-place showdown vs. Lions Nov 02, 2024
The Green Bay Packers will have their franchise quarterback at the helm for Sunday’s marquee NFC North matchup.
Jordan Love, who is listed as questionable with a groin injury, is expected to start in the Packers’ first-place showdown against the visiting Detroit Lions, NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero reported Saturday, per sources.
During a 30-27 Week 8 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, Love exited the game with the groin injury. He returned to practice in a limited capacity on Thursday and Friday. He said Wednesday it was “realistic” he could play. That’s now the expected come Sunday.
Love so far has flexed his stellar arm abilities but been rather mercurial in his play. In six starts, he has thrown for 15 touchdowns and a league-high nine interceptions while averaging 257.8 yards per game.
Though Love is good to go despite his groin injury, it’ll still obviously be worth monitoring how his play is affected by the ailment. His health overall also remains a corner as he’s missed two games already this season with a shoulder injury.
Starting for the first time last season against Detroit, Love went 1-1 against the Lions. He was sacked five times, threw a touchdown and two interceptions during a Week 4 loss. Then, during the Packers’ underdog run to the playoffs, he was sensational to the tune of completing 22 of 32 passes for 268 yards, three TDs and no INTs.
Which version of Love shows up Sunday will no doubt play a pivotal part in one of Week 9’s biggest games.
Green Bay (6-2) kicks off against visiting Detroit (6-1) at 4:25 p.m. ET Sunday.
