Tim Kaine makes ‘SNL’ cameo in election version of John Mulaney’s ‘What’s That Name’ sketch

‘SNL’ joked about the country forgetting Kaine.

Saturday Night Live revived a sketch where John Mulaney tries to guess obvious names — but this time it featured a very special cameo from Hillary Clinton’s 2016 running mate Tim Kaine.

In case you forgot, Mulaney previously played a hapless guy who couldn’t remember the names of people in his life — his wife’s friend or friend’s girlfriend, for instance — while remembering celebs. In the 2024 election version of the sketch, Mulaney’s character easily names people like second gentleman Doug Emhoff. But then Kaine comes out, like literally, the actual Virginia senator, and Mulaney’s character blanks.

The sketch progresses from there, ramping up how easily Mulaney’s character forgets people that were once so important to him.
