Donald Trump wins 2024 presidential election
Donald Trump won the 2024 presidential election and is set to become the 47th president of the United States.
The 78-year-old â who defeated Hillary Clinton in 2016 â defeated Vice President Kamala Harris.
Although Trump lost the presidential race in 2020 to President Joe Biden, he will return to the White House in 2025.

Prior to AP News projecting Trump as the winner Wednesday morning, he thanked âthe American people for the extraordinary honor of being electedâ in a victory speech at his Mar-a-Lago celebration.
âThis was a movement like no one has ever seen before,â he continued. âFrankly, I believe this was the greatest political movement of all time.
âNow it is going to reach a new level of importance,â Trump added. âBecause we are going to help our country heal.â

Runningmate J.D. Vance echoed, âI think we just witnessed the greatest political comeback in the history of the United States of America.â
Trump took to X (formerly Twitter) â a social platform that previously banned him â on the morning of election day and encouraged his followers to vote for him.
âYour vote will lead us to Greatness. Your vote will unleash a new GOLDEN AGE! Your vote will MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN! GREATER THAN EVER BEFORE! VOTE TRUMP!â he penned.

He also encouraged his followers to âstay onlineâ and to not âget offlineâ ahead of the polls closing.
âRepublicans weâre doing really well,â Trump said via X. âStay online. Donât get offline and vote.â

âWeâre going to have a big victory tonight!â he said in the clip.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. â who entered the race as an independent candidate â also publicly endorsed Trump via X on election day.
âIf you want to see me in Washington, DC, VOTE FOR PRESIDENT TRUMP. đșđž,â the 70-year-old wrote.

Many celebrities have endorsed the candidates this election, with Trump earning support from actor Zachary Levi, tech billionaire Elon Musk, NFL star Harrison Butker and model Amber Rose.
Despite Trumpâs victory, many celebrities took to social media to endorse his opponent ahead of election night.

Other celebrities who endorsed the candidates this election cycle included actress ChloĂ« Grace Moretz, âThe Viewâ co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin and former Calif. governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Cardi B was one of the first celebrities to react to Trumpâs win, telling her Instagram followers she felt âreally sad.â
