Frankie Muniz’s first season as a NASCAR driver ended with an unfortunate wreck on Friday at the Craftsman Truck Series Championship.
The Malcolm in the Middle star, who made his NASCAR Xfinity Series debut earlier this season, limped away from a crash on Friday, but confirmed after the race that he’s fine.
“I’m okay, yeah. Unfortunate,” he told reporters after the race (h/t Deadline’s Glenn Garner). “I felt like got a good opportunity to run with some guys, I made some passes. Lost a few spots on restarts, then went back out and passed them again. So it was good for me to figure out how to get by people, you know I haven’t really gotten to do that much this year so that was really positive.”

Muniz was promoted to full-time for the Reaume Brothers Racing team’s 2025 season in October after making his NASCAR debut last January.
“Ever since childhood, it’s been my dream to pursue racing in NASCAR, and it was important for me to partner with a team that aligned with my long-term objectives and vision while providing every opportunity imaginable to grow mentally and physically as a full-time race car driver,” Muniz said in a statement (h/t Deadline’s Bruce Haring).
The former actor has been involved in the racing world for years and finally got the chance to compete in NASCAR recently. While his season didn’t end the way he would have liked, he said he’s looking forward to getting back behind the wheel next year.
“That said, I’m so grateful for my team,” Muniz said. “And I’m so excited for next season. This year wasn’t what we had hoped, but this proved that I can race with guys, I can pass here. We’re gonna be better next year, and I’ve got the whole off-season to prepare. We’re gonna go get it.”
