Injury roundup: Jets’ Davante Adams (illness/wrist) expected to play Sunday vs. Colts Nov 17, 2024

New York Jets wide receiver Davante Adams, who battled an illness during the week and is also dealing with a wrist injury, is expected to play Sunday versus the Colts, NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo reported.

Adams missed the first two practice sessions leading up to the game against Indy, but his full participation on Friday suggested he was trending this way despite the questionable designation.

Although the Adams experience hasn’t been all the Jets hoped it would be when they traded for him just over a month ago on Oct. 15, he’s nonetheless an integral part of an offense still looking for more oomph amid a sputtering 3-7 start to the season. His continued presence is a major boon to New York’s chances at a miraculous turnaround.

In the past four games since donning the Gotham green, Adams has seen 29.1% of the team’s passing targets.

While he hasn’t provided a monumental shift, the operation has found small gains from his addition.

The Jets have had three of their best five performances in terms of total yardage since Adams arrived, while third-year wideout Garrett Wilson has averaged 9.8 more receiving yards per game and scored two of his five total TDs on the season.

With Adams expected to be good to go, he and Wilson should again lead the charge catching passes, with running back Breece Hall set to continue his dynamic role working both on the ground and joining those two in the receiving game.

A defeat before their Week 12 bye would put the Jets at eight losses, not to mention the added insult of giving Indianapolis — one of the many teams they’ll need to leapfrog to make a last-ditch playoff run — another victory.

That’s what’s at stake when Adams and Co. take on the 4-6 Colts on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.
