Video: Aaron Rodgers Says He Was Confused by Jets Not Going for 2 After TD vs. Colts

NFL fans weren’t the only ones perplexed by the New York Jets’ offensive decisions in their 28-27 loss to the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday.

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers was also caught off guard, believing the Jets would attempt a two-point conversion after a touchdown early in the fourth quarter to extend their lead to 25-16.

“The reason I was thinking is because we had a conversation on the sideline and I was under the impression the decision was before the drive, we were going to go for two,” Rodgers told reporters after the game.

After the Jets opted for the extra point to extend their lead to 24-16, the Colts responded with a touchdown to pull within two. They then sealed it with a game-winning touchdown by Anthony Richardson in the final minute.

There was a clear miscommunication between head coach Jeff Ulbrich and Rodgers, as the quarterback was expecting to execute a two-point conversion throughout the entire scoring drive.

“Something changed in the meantime. So, the hardest part and we know it and we’ve had a delay of game on a two-point (conversion), is to get everybody back,” Rodgers said. “So I just assumed two and I looked over and I couldn’t really tell, it looked like they were holding up one and I was a little bit confused cause I thought we had talked about going for two.”

The Jets’ one-point loss dropped them to 3-8 on the season, marking their seventh loss in the last eight games.

Rodgers and the Jets head into a bye week and will likely use it to evaluate their options for the remainder of the season.
