Newcastle lineup vs. West Ham: Predicted XI for Premier League clash

Sports Mole takes an in-depth look at how Newcastle United could line up for Monday’s Premier League clash with West Ham United.

Newcastle United head coach Eddie Howe will be unable to call upon Dan Burn for Monday’s Premier League clash with West Ham United at St James’ Park.

The 32-year-old defender picked up his fifth yellow card of the Premier League season in the 3-1 win over Nottingham Forest two weekends ago and must therefore serve a one-match suspension when the Irons come to visit.

Burn is one of four definite absentees for the Magpies, who are also working without fellow centre-backs and long-term knee victims Jamaal Lascelles and Sven Botman, while Emil Krafth is unlikely to play again before 2025 due to a collarbone injury.

However, Kieran Trippier (thigh) and Callum Wilson (back) could make their comeback appearances on Monday night; the former has a better chance of doing so but is unlikely to be risked from the first whistle.

Instead, newly-capped England internationals Tino Livramento and Lewis Hall will join fellow regulars Fabian Schar and Nick Pope at the back, while Lloyd Kelly ought to step in for the banned Burn.

Howe also has no need to alter the midfield trio of Joe Willock, Sean Longstaff and Bruno Guimaraes, meaning another substitute cameo for Sandro Tonali, and the same goes for Harvey Barnes despite his strike off the bench at the City Ground.

The ex-Leicester City man is unlikely to displace Anthony Gordon, Joelinton or Alexander Isak in the hosts’ attacking triumvirate, even though he has a terrific record of six goals and two assists from previous matches against the Hammers in the Premier League.

Newcastle United possible starting lineup:
Pope; Livramento, Schar, Kelly, Hall; Willock, Guimaraes, Longstaff; Gordon, Isak, Joelinton
