Dodgers $71 million All-Star predicted to dump LA for Red Sox in free agency

The Los Angeles Dodgers won the World Series in 2024, but they may not be able to keep all of their key players together for a run in 2025. Teocar Hernández is a free agent and could sign a big deal elsewhere in free agency.

MLB Network’s Jon Morosi predicted that Hernández would join the Boston Red Sox in free agency if he can’t find a way to stay with the Dodgers.

“If Teoscar does not go back to Dodgers Stadium for 2025, I’m going to make this bold prediction here on November the 22nd. I believe he will go to the American League East. He has phenomenal, phenomenal career numbers at Fenway Park,” said Morosi. “If Soto signs with the Yankees or the Mets, get ready to listen to a lot of conversations about Teoscar and the Boston Red Sox.”

Hernández is familiar with Fenway Park from his time with the Toronto Blue Jays. He has a .960 OPS with 14 home runs in 45 games at the historic ballpark.

Spotrac projects Hernández to sign a three-year, $71 million deal following his career year with the Dodgers. In 2024 he set a new career high with 33 home runs. He was named to his second career All-Star game. He has made it known that he prefers to stay with the Dodgers, but the team may prioritize spending in other spots.

The Dodgers would be losing a key part of their offense. At times this season, Hernández helped the offense overcome key stretches where Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman were out.
