Dakota Ditcheva has responded to ‘jealousy’ from other fighters regarding her popularity ahead of PFL Championships

This coming Friday at the PFL Championships in Saudi Arabia, British star Dakota Ditcheva will have the chance to catapult herself into superstardom with a win.

Since her emergence in the promotion in 2022, flyweight phenom Dakota Ditcheva has become one of the most popular female MMA fighters across any promotion.

After winning the PFL Europe tournament last year, Ditcheva earned her spot in the global league where she has now made her way to the final against former UFC title challenger, Taila Santos.

With that has come a lot of praise from fellow fighters, one of which being the former face of the PFL, Kayla Harrison, who has always spoken extremely highly of the 26-year-old.

However, with the praise has also come a lot of criticism and what Ditcheva has called ‘jealousy’ from other fighters.

“Definitely, there is definitely a little bit of jealousy I think, and a bit of frustration from a few fighters and I get it,” Ditcheva admitted in an interview with MMAFighting.

“It’s a business we have to be able to sell these fights in order to get paid, if you wanna get paid do something, like make your fight exciting or get on social media and make an effort.

“The people who are mad at certain fighters making money but if you look at the ones that are making money, it’s their personalities in the sport or the fighters that are doing something different.

“I don’t know why anyone is getting frustrated with me because honestly, I’m just getting what I can out of my years in the sport and I feel like that would be the clever thing to do,” Ditcheva added.

TEMPTED BACK: A 10 pm message from Conor McGregor got me back into fighting – now I’m fighting for $1m for a second timeDitcheva is surprised that she is a big favorite against Taila SantosAs mentioned before, the British striker has made extremely easy work of all of her opponents so far and has maintained her undefeated record.

Because of that, she is heading into her championship fight against the former UFC veteran as a big favorite, which has surprised her a lot considering Santos arguably beat Valentina Shevchenko in their UFC title fight.

“I’m surprised at the odds. I thought Taila Santos would’ve been the favorite, she has the accolades,” Ditcheva told New York Post Sports.

The 26-year-old Brit is currently -370, with the Brazilian at +265, with her fight against Shevchenko being the only other time she was a clear underdog.
