Buccaneers star safety badly injured in a car accident driving to practice | Placed on I/R

Jordan Whitehead the star safety of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers was badly injured this morning when traveling into practice.

According to Rick Stroud, the Buccaneers are placing Whitehead on Injured Reserve and signed Ryan Neal from their practice squad to their active roster.

Bucs S Jordan Whitehead was involved in a automobile accident today and suffered injuries significant enough for the team to place him in the Non-football injury list.

Whitehead returned to active duty last week after missing four weeks while on injured reserve. He had 79 tackles and three passes defensed in his 12 appearances this year.

The Bucs are also going to be without safety Antoine Winfield Jr. and cornerback Jamel Dean on Sunday.

A win over the Saints will make them the NFC South champions.
