Ruben Amorim has been blown away by the Manchester United fans and their unwavering support for the team, despite the difficult recent results we’ve experienced on the pitch.

The Reds have suffered four straight defeats in all competitions, with reverses against Tottenham in the Carabao Cup, Bournemouth and Wolves in the Premier League and, most recently, a 2-0 loss to Newcastle on Monday.

Ruben appreciates that the supporters are sticking with the team through difficult times.

In the embargoed press conference previewing our trip to Anfield on Sunday, he added that it’s the team’s job to reward the loyal backing they have received.

“What happened in the second half of the game – I had some friends there – it’s unbelievable. They support us and you can look at the table,” the head coach said.

“We lose four in a row and the supporters were amazing again, I cannot ask anything [more] for the support, maybe a little bit more patience.

“I cannot say nothing to the supporters. They are tired of this moment and we need to do our job to help the supporters in this moment.”

Our fans could be heard chanting ‘Ruben Amorim’s red-and-white army’ during half-time and throughout the second half of the clash with the Magpies.

Amorim has previously expressed his surprise at the song, given our league position, but he is adamant things will start to look up soon.

“It’s so strange! I will do my best. I am giving everything to help the club and we are going to succeed.

“I know that is hard to understand in this moment, but we are going to succeed.”
